We really wanted to love this restaurant. Based on the reviews, we thought we would and have a new favorite sushi restaurant to add to our others. Sadly, it didn’t work out that way. The entrance to the building is awkward. The actual front door is for take out orders only. You need to enter through the side. Maybe if you called ahead, that would have been explained. We didn’t know that to eat in the restaurant that we needed a reservation, the women explained from the sliver in the door she opened. She yelled out to someone inside and then allowed us in. The restaurant was empty, she sat us at a table and took our order. Our food came out quickly, and we began to eat. The crab in the roll I ordered was fishy. I had to use a napkin to put it in after I tasted it. We called her over to explain what happened, and she argued that they only use the best crab and it wasn’t fishy at all. In the middle of that conversation, the man making the rolls yelled out to her to let the party at the door in. She quickly ran to the door, leaving us without resolving the issue of the fishy crab, never to return to our table (right next to the other party) she ignored us the rest of the time. It seemed the party next to us had been a long-time patron of the restaurant from their previous location. The man making the rolls was summoned to the table by the gentleman, and they reminisced about how long they had known each other. It is amazing to have that relationship.

We’ve been late at trying out Sakura. We loved it! Portions are generous. And food was delicious. Staff is courteous. Definitely made our favorites list!

Ok… so I’ve wanted to try this place for a while now, years actually. But, it always seemed empty… I finally went there… and now I know why!

We ordered rib eye steak with sashimi and sunset blvd roll to go. The price is a little more expensive than the average japanese restaurant in the area probably because of the new location, newer building more expensive rent. The rib eye is smothered in teriyaki sauce, it was good but not the way i like my rib eye. I would not order this next time. The roll needs more improvement. The sashimi though, OMG. The sashimi is a totally different story. It was fresh and tasty and oh so yummy melt in your mouth goodness. One of the best i have ever had. I would keep coming back here just for the sashimi.

This is the best sushi in San Ramon proper. It’s expensive, and a strange location, but it’s really good and you won’t be disappointed with your food. Service was also better than most. Fun people to talk to, friendly chatter, and gave recommendations.

Pleasant environment, great service. The food was absolutely delicious. The karaage was tender and lightly fried, perfect as an appetizer. If you like tempura, this was some of the best I’ve had. The sashimi was excellent with freshness I could instantly taste. Get the sun burnt ice cream, it will not disappoint. Overall, highly recommend.

Went a couple weeks ago. Not worth the price and the process of getting in the restaurant makes me want to leave. They have a check in desk at one door blocking you coming in and then you have to go around to another door and let in from staff. Crazy! Like it’s a high end Vegas peak easy. Service and food was good but with many better places with better food , service , and price I’ll never go back.

Great little Japanese restaurant with very friendly and helpful staff! You can tell the quality of the fish is very high and that a lot of love went into crafting the meals. Definitely recommended.

We are sushi snobs and will travel to go here to visit Tony and Kathy for any and every special occasion, any time we can arrange a date night, or treat friends to a great new experience.
