I live nearby and came often. The sushi is best to be tasted right after they are made. The perfect blend of purple rice’s temperature and texture with the high quality fish is very hard to beat. In fact, I just came back from a trip to Tokyo and Taiwan, I have to say our Sakura sushi is just as good as the ones I ate in Asia.

Excellent place in Berkeley to get sushi! They make their sushi with red rice which adds a nice fragrance to the rolls. Ingredients were fresh, the two rolls we tried were absolutely delicious. We devoured it so fast!

Very tasty food. Small restaurant and quick service. Expensive for such a simple restaurant, but probably reasonable for the location/area. Price doesn’t matter because the food is so good.

Outstanding sushi! The rice is purple besucase it’s a mix of black and white rice giving it increase minerals and antioxidants for your health and good spirits. The staff are so sweet and attentive. The sushi rolls are delish and thoughtfully curated. Also the cooked hamachi was delightful!

Really good sushi!! I love the black dragon, lion king, and kyuri three rolls. I’m really glad we ordered the kyuri three because it was different than the other rolls and the cucumber was really refreshing. The fuyu yasumi roll is good too especially if you like the seared taste, but I preferred the other three. We also ordered wakame salad and salmon kama appetizers which were both good as well. I like the purple rice they use here. Service was super nice too.

Probably the best sushi of my life so far. Absolutely delicious. I loved the purple rice and the food presentation, so careful to detail. The taste of each niguiri and roll….. I’m sorry but you’d have to eat there to know. I can only say life is better after eating there. It looks like it’s a family business and everybody there is so nice and happy. Sakana is just outside SF, in a small neighborhood, and it was really nice to go there for our last meal in California. Congrats to the family for the wonderful sushi!

This place will change your feelings on all other sushi places. They are the best!! Lots of good vegan options! The rice is purple because they add ube to it I believe. Everyone who works here is friendly and fabulous. This place will be why I go bankrupt.

Wow! We were incredibly impressed by the food here. The rice was purple and flavorful which added quite the nice surprise for the sushi rolls. Cute little spot with outside seating. Glad I came here.

Best sushi around! We go probably once a week (maybe once every two weeks). Everything we have had there has been AMAZING and the service is 10/10. They have a couple tables outside, so sometimes we bring the dog to dinner
