Cook was awesome, had a lot of conversation to engage my group with. Host was very friendly and our server was very attentive – never went without anything during the visit. We brought a friend who had never been to a Hibachi grill, and he loved it. 5 stars for sure.

The food was decent for the most part, but the sushi was falling apart and wasn’t put together well. My salad was a little off, the dressing was watered down and chunky like it had been frozen, then heated up to pour over my salad? The service was slow and the overall experience felt very awkward. The atmosphere needs a little more work because it’s not the best.

Do not go to this place and waste your time or money. My family went for a Birthday dinner and was completely unsatisfied all around. there were a total of 10. We had 2 children under the age of 3 and only 7 adults ate. As they served the food, the cook forgot about giving me my portion of the chicken and served everyone else. I had to sit and wait for another chicken to be cooked while staring at my plate with hardly any rice or veggies on it. They give such small portions of the rice and veggies. They still charged me full price for my meal and also added a 18% tip to our checks which is a party of 8 or more. Only 7 of us ate. The food was not even that great. We should of known this place was bad bc it was dead at 730 and we are in the middle of season. My family and I will never go again.

One of the nicest resturanta in Sarasota County. Hand-crafted sushi and owned by a wonderful family. The business is run both by father and son, and they go above and beyond in making sushi and a wide variety of Japanese dishes. It is truly a wonderful place to eat! I go every time I am in town!

Great family culture. Aside from the expected hibachi experience they incorporate some unique appetizers and a genuine interest in what is going on in your vacation or life. The menu includes the normal hibachi Staples plus some intriguing offerings, such as butter fish (delectible). A wonderful experience every time…

Terrible customer service. Would not serve us at 8:25 on Friday night. Kitchen was not closed we saw food coming out. The posted hours are until 10pm. There were 12 customers in the place. Nico the host took about 10 minutes to decide where they would seat us. Saw 5 staff members out front (Nico, Tunicko, Max’s son, dark haired college age waitress, Sushi chef). Max was in back cooking. After 10 minutes told no one to wait on us –staff ratio was 1 to 2 customers (about 12 customers including in back hibachi rooms). I said there are 5 people working I can see. Then Nico said we have no food– he did not know what we were ordering. Then he said we could call back with a reservation. Really 12 customers in whole place and workers standing around. Been going there over 15 years eaten there hundreds of times. Asked to see Max the owner. They went in the back to get him and said he would not come out he was too busy cooking. They need to get it together. Should not treat customers like that. Turned away with 12 people in restaurant? Can’t say that I would recommend anyone go there and be treated as badly as our family who tips 20/25% every time.

In spite of the fact that we made a reservations, we had to wait over a half hour to be seated. After that disappointment we had to wait for over an hour for the chef to appear with no apologies. The service is horrid and the food is marginal at best. In addition the prices have substantially increased and formerly good establishment can only be classified as a ripoff. What used to be a perennial Sarasota staple should now be unequivocally avoided.

We have dined here several times, and have had a great experience ever time. We love the teppan tables (strongly recommend reservations!) and the sushi. My favorites are the sweet and spicy ahi bowl, the various specials on the daily board, and the unagi dish. The filet teppan is delicious too. Max the owner and the teppan chef, and he is proud of his business and uses only the freshest ingredients. He also appreciates his customers, many of whom he knows by name. This is the little place that the locals head to for great sushi, in a clean, comfortable environment. Thanks Max, for your great sushi!

The hibachi chef was the owner, and he was great. But the ambiance and cleanliness were subpar. My steak was perfectly cooked. Rice portion was small.
