My daughter and I were here last night and ordered takeout. My daughter had the Cuencano platter and I had three varieties of tacos. The Cuencano was really good. Roast pork with a delicious slice of crispy pork skin on top. That fried skin was heavenly! The beans and llappingachos were good; not sure what the potato stew was, but the bite I tried had a big chunk of fat in it (not my favorite thing). My daughter really enjoyed her meal. My tacos (shrimp, carnitas, chicken) were just ok. The carnitas actually seemed to be steak, which was really good and I’m not much of a steak person. The chicken was bland and the hot sauce didn’t really help. The shrimp was good, just shrimp though, nothing special. I did like the hot sauce on the other tacos. We got some Ecuadorian sodas, which were fun to try. I rated this restaurant on both our meals; mine was a 3 star but my daughter’s was a 4.5, so that’s my 4 star rating

Hot oily water, a cube of yuca, about ten grains of peas, ten tiny cubes (about 5/32 inches per side) of carrots, two legs of boiled chicken and chopped cilantro on the top of the oily water that’s the soup they are selling, you can imagine the taste of the dish, all the components kept separated but mixed together before serve it. Additionally you will have boiled corn with the “soup” . Also, I ordered tostón “fried green plantains”, I must recognize it was the only edible food I had in the place. Total cost $20.

The food had no flavor whatsoever and it was brought out cold after waiting about 20 minutes for it. This did not represent the food of Cuenca at all. Pretty disappointing. I was excited to try this new place but it was a big waste of money because the food was expensive as well. They need to improve their food and costumer service. Until then, i will keep going to Chimborazo!

If we’re talking Sabor *Cuencano* (my mistake, I wrote sabor latino, but I definitely meant to say sabor cuencano) on 26th and central, then this deserves 1 star. They lack good customer service (or customer service in general) and every time I go inside for service they take a good while. I actually try to call ahead of time so I don’t wait there for my food, but they never answer their phones either; I went inside and their phone rang even though it was slow. Not happy about any of my experiences at this restaurant.

As I try different Ecuadorian places, I realize that every place is not totally up to par with my regular spot. I got the nastiest salchipapas here. They had been fried twice and were inedible. I got the hornado and was slightly disappointed because it did not have the quality taste I needed. I felt sad, spending $40 for stuff that I could have enjoyed previously at Los Andes or Chimborazo. Don’t go here, go elsewhere.

My partner and I came in today for something different and right away noticed someone walking around without a mask. Ask them why they weren’t wearing a mask and they said they forgot it with a smirk on their face. I asked them to put it on and he walked away to get one but by then we were turned off by the idea that they aren’t practicing proper Covid protocol. Went across the street and bought drinks and sandwiches from the co-op.

Wow. Fresh, homemade, authentic Ecuadorian food served with a smile. Come here for breakfast or lunch before going across street to get grocery shopping done at co-op. I’ll be back!
