Want to try some authentic Uzbek or Russian cuisine? You have to try this spot! The food was so hearty and delicious. The service was spectacular, but you have to listen intently because everyone I spoke with had a strong Russian accent which made me feel more like I was in another country and the food I was about to eat wad going to be amazing and it was. They have a huge selection of in-house infused vodkas to choose from. I had the habanaro shot and the mango shot. I wanted to try their sweet and spicy versions. They were both amazing, but be forewarned. If you can’t handle the heat, you may want to stay away from the spicier selections.

I had a great dinner here the other night. From Tempe street this location always appeared rather empty. However, the main seating area and bar is tucked cozily away from the windows. The ambiance is warm and homey. It was bustling at 9pm on a dreary Wednesday. The food was fantastic and our server was great with suggestions. The house wine was especially good. 5/5.

Incredible authentic Uzbek and Russian cuisine. Food was noticeably fresh and truly delectable. We went for restaurant week but ended up ordering off the main menu. We had the meat pies to start, the plov and beef shish kabobs for entrees, and the phenomenal honey cake for desert. I disagree w the pricing complaints in other reviews. Apps all under $10, most entrees in the $20-25 range, desserts $8, beers $8, shots of vodka $7. Great pricing. Habanero Vodka was extremely HOT. I loved it, but my wife almost cried when she took a sip… TRY THIS PLACE!!

This was a pleasant surprise for a solid lunch meal. Given that a DC meal is typically pricey, Rus Uz was a good deal for the mild but comfortable atmosphere, meaningful service, and excellent food preparation. Menu was full of traditional Uzbekistan items at several price points. And if you want to go for the vodka, then this spot looks to be right on.

I wanted to give my family a different culinary experience to what they’re used to so this was the perfect spot. They have 2 branches (the other being in Arlington)- this one is larger in size although the Arlington one appears fancier in decor. Also their ethnic grocery store has a separate entrance in Arlington whereas here it is connected- I would have added some sort of exotic curtain or beads to separate the restaurant area more firmly from the grocery store in this Alexandria branch. The service time was slow and I don’t blame them- they had a noticeable hiring sign at the entrance so clearly they’ve been short staffed. I loved the art work here and was tempted to ask if they’d be willing to sell me some of it as I haven’t even come across some of these online. The plate display was so lively and the traditional tea pot and warmer made us reminisce about the past. On to the food…

The food was delicious, service was quick, staff were friendly, and we enjoyed the atmosphere! The temperature of the restaurant was rather warm and uncomfortable, but didn’t ruin the evening. We definitely will be back! At the end of our meal, we were able to browse the attached market. It was adorable, fun, and we walked out with some interesting finds! We would recommend this place, especially if your not too familiar with this type of cuisine, it is an overall great experience!
