When I sat down to eat my VooDoo Chicken Salad, I noticed that my large, $15 salad didn’t even come to the top of the rim of the shallow take out tin. As I started mixing and eating, I realized that it was probably around 75% tortilla strip toppings and not much of anything else; hardly any lettuce. At that point, I did the tedious task of separating the lettuce from the rest of the overdressed, soupy salad and in total the lettuce content came to less than a cup. Upon pick up, it had the wrong chicken and when I pointed this out all they did was take it off and put the new chicken on top. They didn’t even make a new salad. So the same salad had at one point or another, experienced not one instance of hot chicken topping it, but two, which made the lettuce wilt even more. Horrible experience. People pay good money to eat out. To be served with an afterthought of an expensive SALAD is beyond ridiculous. Side note… I even poured a bunch of tortilla strips off of my “salad.”

Normally our visits have been super good. But the last couple times my chicken has been old, burnt and chewy. My salad had a very little lettuce but tons of Crunchies on top. My husband’s sandwich was so full of grease he could barely eat it.

We went to Rumbi Island Grill as we found a Buy One, Get One Free coupon in the Hometown Values magazine. When I was getting ready to pay, the girl looked at the coupon and said their system is down and could not process the coupon. She charged me for two entrées at regular price. I immediately got an alert from my credit card company, which leads me to believe that their system wasn’t down. Hypothetically, if the software processing coupon was connected to a different system & it was offline, she still could have honored the coupon by ringing me up for just one entrée. The food was good but if they are not willing honor the coupons that they advertise in the Hometown Values magazine, their corporate office should come down and start asking questions.

Jake has been the cashier for the past 4-5 times I have attended rumbi island grill. He has been absolutely exceptional. He has been friendly and helpful when my young brother is indecisive as well as giving us deals whenever we purchase a lot of items. I have never enjoyed the service of someone more then him.

The prices are the same, but the portions are substantially smaller. At every other Rumbis I have visited, the bowl comes with sauce on the chicken with an extra cup of sauce with the meal and if you need an extra they will gladly give you one free of charge. Here no sauce on chicken and they charge for any additional sauce cups. At the other locations, chips and salsa comes with with two cups of salsa, here only one cup of salsa and less chips. Very disappointed….

I eat here about 3 times a week.. the food is absolutely amazing, the staff is very kind and helpful. I’ve never encountered a single issue. Their island Mac and sweet pork and rumbi rice is perfect in every way. Thank you layton Island Rumbi for the amazing food and the Mac thay keeps me coming back.
