The food was good, but the lady taking orders was pretty awful. My sub sat there in full view for at least 10 minutes as she took other orders, was short with other customers, threatened one of the cooks, handed out a few rounds of completed orders that were sitting around mine, and then just let mine hang out there in cooling lonesomeness. (She knew it was mine, too—when I finally went up to ask about it, she handed it to me without saying a word and before I’d said anything.) I’ve worked food service so I know the dinner rush can be a struggle, but it takes maybe 2 seconds to pick up the tag, call out the name, and go on to the next thing.

Usually love this place, but today I ordered 3 foot long subs and all of them were burnt to a crisp, see pic. I am very surprised they would sell it like this to the public, but maybe they thought I wouldn’t notice since it was on the inside and it was a takeout order? I called to let them know and they said sorry the oven must have been set too high. That’s it, no offer to make it right. Oh well, buyer beware. Maybe unwrap it in the store before you pay for it.

The food is good. The counter woman has no personality. She had her back to the counter and was on the phone, not taking an order when I walked in. I had to wait for 4 to 5 minutes for her to hang up and turn around. No smile, no hello, mumbled can I help you. Put my order on the counter. Told me to sign Just “sign”. Did not move my order close so I didn’t have to reach for it. No thank you. I’d have chalked it up to her having a bad day, but she was like that the last time I was there also.

The food was delicious and fresh, the fries were hot and crispy. The reason I did not give 5 stars is for two reasons. 1. The sign said “buy 2 subs get one free on Sunday” No where does it said the sub had to be a full and not a half. 2. My fiancé and I dined in along with 2 other couples that were there. A female worker from the back that seemed to be cooking was rather loud and obnoxious and also used profanity once. If my kids had been there I would have said something. She mentioned something about “how she’s worked there since she was 12 and how her other job pays so much more” It was very unprofessional and I even saw the customers sitting in front of us look over several times when she was being loud. So it was distracting.

Okay Rudy’s. You could have done better today. I asked for my ingredients to be chopped in and cooked with the steak on my sandwich. You said okay and what did I get? Exactly the opposite. If you would have done what I asked it would have been great. Instead I got a rolled up piece of mess because the cook wanted to make what she wanted and not what I paid my money for! Epic fail on the grade for this one. Now this is why we need people working in the food industry who actually care about the craft. She is making a bad name for all chefs in this country. This is also why people do t want to pay premium for quality food especially when you get charged too much for a junk meal. Back to Uncle Sam’s we go!

Went this Sunday before the virus shut everything down. Met the friendliest counter person ever. Enjoyed my steak & cheese sub and fries. I haven’t had a Rudy’s Sub since I was a teenager. Tasted just as good as it did so many years ago. Delicious. I imagine while we are practicing social distancing anyone could call ahead and pre-order for pick-up. Support any local businesses you can during these trying times. If you need a quick bite and don’t want to cook, you still have options instead of a fast food chain. 5 stars.
