We drove over an hour just to experience Ruby’s Kitchen…and it was the best soul food I’ve ever had, in my life. The fried catfish was easily the best catfish I’ve ever tasted. Everything was made fresh and HOT! The fried shrimp was perfect. And the onion rings? Oh my god. Amazing. Mac and cheese and greens? Perfection. Cornbread? Otherworldly! I don’t even like hushpuppies but even the hushpuppies were delicious! My 9 year old is a picky eater and she SMASHED the fried shrimp and hush puppies! Service was also perfect and I don’t think I’ve *ever* had a better dining experience in my life. I mean that.

Two out of three people in our party didn’t like the food. The pork chops were fantastic, as were the chicken wings. The problem was with the sides, which were pretty but overall lacked taste. Except for the spaghetti, which was delicious.

We purchased 1 fish and shrimp dinner and 1 chicken wings dinner with our sides of fried corn, mustard and turnip greens. The fried corn is canned creamed styled corn that was so sweet we couldn’t eat it, and the greens came out of a can. The menu should be true to the items. Please stop misleading people with thinking they’re going to order fresh fried corn or change your menu. If you’re serving canned veggies, then say so! We also ordered peach cobbler which was not in our bag. Not even worth going back to get it. That was our first and last time ordering food from Ruby’s.

A last min decision, so worth it! I had the Catfish dinner. 2 big fillets deep fried in corn meal with a huge side of fried okra & deep fried mushrooms! It was great! They also went to considerable lengths on the service.

Tried it for the first time last night. Service was very friendly and in spite of a nonstop set of orders coming in on the phone and through delivery, our food arrived hot and fresh pretty quickly. I had salmon patties with rice and gravy and cornbread; patties were best I’ve had in a long time with big chunks of salmon, fresh onion and peppers. Rice and gravy was filling but a bit bland. Girlfriend ordered perch with hush puppies, mac and cheese, and fried corn. Perch and hush puppies were perfect, the fried corn had just the right mix of jalapeno to corn to make it interesting but not spicy, and mac and cheese was better than we’ve had at just about any fast food place–real cheese, not “whiz”.

I brought a fish dinner with okra, and spaghetti with fried shrimp. Fish was to little small pieces with six pieces of shrimp. This meal was overpriced I paid $31.34 it was worth what I paid for never again.what a ripoff. My husband complained for hours. And their food isn’t all that I could’ve cooked this myself for that price and had plenty leftover. Their spaghetti need some work.

Our first time here and it was delicious! Salmon patties were more salmon than pattie-yummy! Perch and hush puppies were perfect! Fried corn-so good and the Mac and Cheese was the best I’ve had out in years-definitely homemade. Service was quick, staff was really friendly. A great stop before the Stranahan -we will be back!
