The food was great! The best breakfast I’ve had in awhile. The service was lacking. One lady doing everything, taking orders, waiting on tables, running the register, etc. for the whole restaurant, she needed some help. The decor was sparse and bland. They seem to stay busy.

Awesome experience, and hard to imagine how cheap everything was! An entire breakfast for 4 people for under $37, and we ate like kings. Would be nice to hire an additional server and have French vanilla cream for the coffee, but those are minor issues. If I ever find my way into Metropolis again, I’ll be sure to stop by.

We went for breakfast and I ask for coffee with flavored creamer they said no but the waitress was so nice she said she will find something. She did French vanilla so she was wonderful. The breakfast was good. They mite want to add a little more decorations on the walls and doll it up but it was good I would go back. Maybe put some donuts or muffins out under a glass cake plate so people mite have coffee and a roll.

Pretty dull. Rude attitude. Food was okay. But if you order cheese sticks don’t expect marinara.. served with ranch.. I guess to each their own. Prices are good though. Pay for what you get.

My hubby and I (and two sweet little pups) stopped in Metropolis whilst en route to Florida. We stayed in the nastiest super 8, and needed a hearty breakfast. We decided to eat at Rubes and my were we impressed! First of all, it’s the only in the city with no Superman references. Clearly a favorite to locals, there was excellent service, quick delish food and a nice ambiance. Highly recommend for all passing through!

Great home-cooking, without having to cook! Call ahead to ask what their specials are. I like their fried chicken, okra, thunder & lightning salad. Some day I’ll make it in for their popular breakfast which starts at 5:30am, but it must be great, because they’re crowded early in the morning!
