At the insistent suggestion of a friend, I tried out the Route 80 Cafe. My friend was spot on in her review. The staff are professional and friendly, from the owner to the wait staff to the cleaning crew. The food is spectacular! I’m big into breakfast and now eat here almost everyday ($10 including tip). The eggs whether fried, scrambled or pouched are perfect every time. The American coffee is decent, even though I prefer an espresso drink. The pancakes are so delicious and puffy. And the fresh fruit bowls are truly fresh. My last bowl included blueberries, strawberries, mango, grapes, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and kiwi. My granddaughters have now named it their favorite diner too. You can’t go wrong. Walk in and seat yourself anywhere. And I forgot to mention all the friendly regulars who are there too. I love this place! Check it out for yourself.

Good food & good service ! A very calm environment to eat in peace. A lot of old heads & old timers come here to enjoy their meals. So it makes the cafe nice & quite.

East Haven needed a diner, but this is not the one it needed. Let me explain briefly what I noticed in my experience there:

Kevin Clancy
The food was very good. 2 eggs ham steak large stack of Texas French toast and coffee

I set a time and time again this place is quite nice as a smaller but a decent seating capacity. It is more a family run restaurant and everybody is friendly. I pretty much give breakfast and only chef salad because those are the things I like they have much other things on the menu. I’ve hurt my hip and it was unable to get out of my truck. Was no problem whatsoever for the woman to run out my meal to my truck and pay for it right there. I think the woman’s name is Tammy but I’m not sure absolutely wonderful woman. And she assured me that if I needed to have my meals run out to the truck it was a okay by her. That was very nice of her

UPDATE – WOW. What a response from the business. Literally still trying to spin it back as the customers fault. I shouldn’t HAVE to request for a manager because your staff should be trained in 1, knowing the menu and 2, customer service, which clearly they are not considering the source doesn’t even know how to properly address a customer concern. Good luck in the restaurant business One of the worst experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. The format of the booths are terrible and you have to squeeze in between tables to get to your seat. We sat for 10 minutes before being moved to another table. Add another 10 minutes before being brought a menu or asked for drinks. I ordered the Cinnamon Roll pancakes, which the menu clearly states “cinnamon, brown sugar and drizzled with icing” and this is what I received, after another 27 minutes of waiting. I tried a bite to see where any unseen icing or cinnamon was and couldn’t taste any flavor at all. I asked the waitress if this was indeed my order and she said this was it, even though I mentioned the menu specifically stating all of those missing items. She left to get the rest of our food and saw me trying to eat these flavorless pancakes, and LITERALLY TOOK MY PLATE AS I WAS EATING and asked if I wanted something else. I said no and she asked if I wanted my pancakes, which were now in her hand. Frustrated, I said no thanks. She brought the pancakes back to the kitchen and returned empty handed to say the chef said they made them correctly, just to prove the point. As far as the rest of our food, everything was mediocre at best. And to top things off, when she brought over our check she said she “cut me a break” and “took a couple dollars off the check” to remedy the lack of icing and that I’ll get extra icing next time. There will be NO next time – I’ll stick with the other diners in town.

My first time here and it was amazing! Thanks to Kelly, Marge, Jim and Dan. They make you feel like you are family! The waitress was sweet as pie – very accommodating. Shared my experience with a friend who didn’t make it to the game at the Sports Complex just down the street! Stop by whenever you want something different and a very personal touch!

This is good quality food for a bargain price. The owner is Greek, so all those specialties are excellent. The menu is large and the portions are generous. The eggs benedict is a special treat at a low price. The wait staff are friendly and quick. This place will make you into a regular customer.
