Two incredible meals here, easily one of my personal favorite meals in Cleveland. Initially had the Elk Tenderloin then the Hog Snapper. Everything you will taste here has been thought out to pleasure your palate (pairing taste combos and textures is a work of art). Caesar salad is a must try, so light and unique. PB pie is out of this world, & the bartender doesn’t suck either.

If you are looking to explore culinary genius, try novel flavors, and bask in true culinary innovation that embodies the heart of Cleveland cuisine and that which makes the city a bona-fide food honeypot, then I would suggest taking an evening to visit Rood. In putting in the effort to traverse all that Rood has to offer from its inimitable pies to its thirst-quenching cocktails (that are far too easy to imbibe!) to its fusion entrees, one will gain a truly unique food experience. Rood is a special establishment that provides excellent service and leaves one wanting more. Experience Rood.

My husband and I have dined at Rood for multiple occasions but this was the first time we decided to conduct a meeting with one of our clients in their establishment and it was truly a wonderful experience. This date in particular was to introduce a couple to one of dear friends who would be photographing their wedding day and I wanted to do so in a warm and welcoming atmosphere which describes Rood to a T!

Richelle Murphy! If you have heard of her then I really don’t NEED to write this review, but I will because she represents all of the many reasons Cleveland, while not being a huge city, is a LEADING food city! We met her, and I was amazed to learn that she is a tender 24 years old, but what she does with food is breathtaking. Imagine ALL of the best chefs Cleveland has seen combined into one person. She is an absolutely AMAZING talent! Here is what we had: Sweet Corn Crab Cakes, Earl Grey Smoked Duck Breast, Charred Octopus, Juniper Thyme Elk Tenderloin, Scallop and Grits special, Cajun Shrimp and Grits. The grits are hands down, the best I have ever tasted. When I tell you that every bite on that table was perfection … This was the best restaurant meal we have had in Cleveland since well before pandemic. The cocktails are delicate and expertly executed, and the PIE! We ordered and shared 4 different things so we could get a bit of the majority of the menu. If you think you don’t like Baklava, order it because it’s more like the best Pecan Pie you will taste outside of a southern grandmother’s kitchen. We also tried the Brown Butter Apple Praline, the Salt and Honey, and the Brandy Banana. All were top notch, so top notch that we took some home. I cannot say enough about this dining experience but return is inevitable so that we can experience it again and again. Richelle, thanks for joining us here in Cleveland, you are a treasure!

Each of us ordered a different pie. The Chocolate Tahini Custard was good. So was the Dark Chocolate & Black Raspberry. But MY favorite was the Brown Butter Apple Praline. A La Mode of course !!!

Rood Food belongs in the top tier of Cleveland restaurants. They have a revolving menu of lovingly crafted and flavorful dishes that are consistently delicious. Their cocktails are expertly concocted. And don’t get me started on the pies…if I had my way, I would just order 4 of them for dinner and finish with an espresso martini. Personal favorites are salt and honey (I really, really love that little vial of bee pollen) and brandy banana, but you really can’t miss with any of them.

My husband and I went to celebrate his mom’s birthday Saturday evening. Since we are huge foodies, we wanted to go somewhere different that she wouldn’t normally go out to eat. Rood definitely did not disappoint! Incredible menu selection and service. Sean our server offered on spot recommendations – shrimp and grits, tempura squash blossoms, asiago crusted chicken – absolutely amazing. Fresh ingredients and an eclectic menu, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Please leave room for pie!

Fun little corner diner. Inside was charming and lots of seating. We ordered the Banana Pie which was amazing! The crust was delicious, the fruit was fresh, and the whipped cream tasted handmade. I would have loved the opportunity to get a couple more individual slices of the pies to go. But they don’t really give you that option when you walk in. Regardless the food was amazing and we want to try more of their menu.
