Let me start by saying when the food is good, it’s freaking phenomenal. This can definitely be a hidden gem. Over the last 6 months to a year or so, it’s been much more disappointing. I order delivery for myself on the Favor App (my partner has a severe seafood allergy so dining here with him isn’t an option for us) so I always expect my food to not be as good of quality as what you’d find in the restaurant, and I account for that as I write this post. Guys, I paid $27 for basically an onion, a green pepper, what felt like half a steak and a side of rice. I cross checked their menu, and its the same price as if i’d ordered directly from them. I don’t know the weight of steak for my particular dish (saikoro steak) but goodness there was hardly any in my entree this time. My go-to prior to this was the crispy beef with cashew nuts – the last 2 times I ordered it, it had become so soggy by the time it got to me that I couldn’t eat it. Usually it was pretty good – not crispy as you would get in house, but not a bowl full of wet, mushy beef either. When it comes to flavor, Rockstar is on point. Unfortunately, due to lack of consistency and quality control, I will probably not be ordering here again. It’s too expensive for the quality of food I’ve been receiving lately. Dining in isn’t really an option for me – my partner is a severe seafood allergy, so ordering here was an occassional treat. Hopefully they improve, soon.

We went to Rock Star Sushi and Hibachi tonight for their hibachi, but unfortunately they had reservation only for it. We decided to stay anyway and try out their sushi.

Took my husband here for father’s day with our two children. I made a reservation on Monday through Google assistant and when I got confirmation the date was wrong. I called five times before they answered the phone, I explained the situation and they said they had no problem changing the mistake. We arrived 10 mins early and they couldn’t find my reservation but had no problem seating us. We were told to wait in the corridor, it was so hot and stuffy I couldn’t wait for them to seat us.

We used to visit here often and usually it’s a good experience. This last visit was horrible. We got there at about 4:30pm and the place was not busy at all. We were seated quickly. The manager was waiting our table. We ordered our drinks but took almost 40 minutes to get to the table. We ordered our food it took an hour. Ok no big deal. We get our food and our chicken is cold and tasted like left overs that were warmed up. I alerted the manager and he didn’t seem to care. Prices have gone up, quality and portions have gone down. Not worth $80. I don’t see this place lasting much longer. We will not be coming back and I will be sure to share my experience with anyone who is contemplating eating here. Good luck!

Went for the first time last night and had a wonderful time! The food was great! The portion size was generous, and the prices were affordable. We loved the hostess and our waitress. They even gave my daughter very impressive ice cream to celebrate her accomplishment. We will definitely be back for all of our special occasions.

A little more expensive than other Corpus Christi sushi places like Aka or Imperial, but the portions seemed slightly larger and there did appear to be more creativity put into Rockstar’s presentation, a very pleasant surprise. In particular I enjoyed the ‘Tower,’ which wasn’t a roll but a well put together collection of ingredients plated into a small ‘tower’ and topped with a quail egg. Personally my wife and I are fans of Imperial, but if we were unable to drive to the other end of town or just happened to be in the area and in the mood for sushi we would (and will) happily return. The inclusion of hibachi is a nice bonus as well!

Establishment smells like a wet mop. Bland Lo Mein noodles and chicken. Sushi is great, Tempura is great. Fried Rice NEEDS help. Pungent, sticky, and underseasoned.
