The pie seemed to need a bit more cheese. The crust seemed stale? Which we realize sounds odd for a fresh baked pie… But can’t describe any other way.

Rocco’s Pizza is one of Winona’s hidden, local gems! In my opinion, one of the BEST pizza joints in town!
VR Verdict
I’ll never know what the food tastes like, we walked in the door and the staff appeared to be angry at our presence. We then asked if we should find a seat or place an order. We were told to have a seat. Right after that 3 other customers came in and ordered ahead of us. The one of the staff took 2 phone orders and the other staff were just standing there.

Service was very good. Friendly and attentive. Pizza was vey good. We normally like a thinner crust, but the taste was very good. The beer could’ve been colder.

The staff was friendly and courteous. The pizza is pretty expensive, but it is tasty. I also tried the garlic (cheese) bread but, even though it tasted good, I probably wouldn’t get it again because the portion was so meager. During busy times of day, expect at least an hour wait for take-out.

We like to check out the pizza when visiting different towns on business. Rocco’s comes in at the top of the list. We ordered a Special for delivery and were told 45 minutes which was fine. The pie came on time if not a bit early. And it was too hot to eat!!! NEVER have I EVER had a delivery pizza that hot and fresh. The crust was crisp and yes, the sausage was trippingly tasty. The fifth star goes to the stellar sausage and the haul a$$ delivery.

Very reasonable prices and nice staff but a couple basic execution issues here. Fix those and this is a solid 4 star above average pie. First is the crust simply was under cooked. The top was not even close to being overdone so this simply was pulled from the oven 90 seconds too early. The second issue is it was tossed on a foil square in the box. Being square cut makes this a bigger issue than if pie sliced but either way its just a pain to deal with the set cheese sticking to it and causing issues. Even worse is when it leaves some on the slice so you get to play the pick it off game before eating each slice. As an adult it’s less risk but if you give it to a kid they likely are at risk of not getting it off and eating the foil bits. Other than those issues it was a solid pie. Flavor was great and sauce was nice.

Being a Winona native, Roccos is the best pizza in town. I’ve traveled the country for work and still Roccos is among the best. There is almost always a longer wait time but it’s worth the wait. Plan ahead and order early.
