Very good family-owned run restaurant. I’m 70 and it reminds me of the restaurants I would go to with my parents as a family back in late 50s early 60s. Tablecloths and linen napkins which is nice to see in today’s franchise world. Food is fresh and served hot. And added bonus is the grounds which are very nicely landscaped with walking trails floral gardens and hummingbird feeders galore. A great staff

I would give this restaurant a 4 1/2 star rating. The walleye dinner was excellent and the atmosphere were its the window views of the garden were terrific.

We have been visiting River lake close to 20 years. We travel over an hour so we only visit 3 to 4 times a year. Tonight we had Bourbon glazed Salmon and New York strip. Fantastic! Fantastic service! We have never been disappointed with food and service! Prices are not out of line of any other place that serves great food with great service. Food great! Service great! Salad bar great! We always look forward to our next visit.

My husband and I made reservations a week prior to Mother’s Day for the buffet, we were seated within minutes which was nice. We were seated in the very far corner of the restaurant with 2 other tables. We waited for our waitress for over 15 minutes just to get drink orders (also the other 2 tables of 2 were waiting also) she took our drink orders we were offered rolls that are included in the buffet , we waited another 10 minutes for drinks and had to ask for our rolls, We went to the buffet got our food it was very confusing how to get around the buffet, we finished our meal and the whole time didn’t see our waitress to offer refills or any other assistance. I normally am very understanding with wait staff serving multiple tables & meals, however her only responsibility was to serve drinks, check back in maybe offer desserts ? as this was a buffet only menu ! We continued to wait to order desserts for a additional 15 minutes we then became a bit irritated and decided against ordering them in fear of the additional wait , so we asked the hostess for our bill and waited a additional 10 minutes and all 3 tables in that corner ended up not ordering desserts & had to go to the bar area to pay our bill, as doing so the waitress appears at the bar complaining everyone wants their bill at the same time . Very frustrated with the visit & paid $70 for 2 buffet meals & 2 drinks

We had a 2pm reservation for Mother’s Day buffet for 4. We got seated at 3pm but people with reservations later got seated first. We were told they had more people in their party. Numerous tables were empty. 3 couples with 2pm reservations walked out. Server never asked us what we wanted to drink and she brought dinner rolls when we’re finished. Food was fair, lukewarm and overcooked. Food was not replenished.

Food was great, service was horrible. We had 12:30 reservations & didn’t get seated until 1:30,after we got seated we waited another 20 minutes for water and we had to ask for that. Everyone around us was complaining about the poor service to. We were there for a total of 2 & 1/2 hours & there were probably 5 empty tables when we left, when we got outside there were probably around 50 people waiting to be seated, this was the worst restaurant experience in my life. I won’t be going back there, unless you like to wait I would not recommend this place:(

The gardens were lovely surrounding a beautiful 2 sided waterfall and pond. The food, wine, service, and atmosphere were incredible. Everyone was so nice.

Our meal we had last evening was pretty boring, tasteless and basically unacceptable for the price. I had walleye and it had a fishy flavor with no taste. My husband had the bourbon salmon and, for the price, it too was tasteless. We were so surprised since our neighbors had said this place had really good food. For $190 for four people, we should have gone to a Kalamazoo restaurant that recently served us the best salmon with great flavors. Plus it included a vegetable, and rice pilaf with freshly baked French bread. My salmon at Riverside was served with a baked potato that was rotten in the middle. As you can tell by my description, we won’t return. The place itself has a nice setting. I would give the food 2 out of 10 and that is more important than a setting.
