River Grill was an oasis in a part of South Carolina where it’s a challenge to find any semblance of healthy food. Stopped in for lunch and it was not busy at noon on a Saturday. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Thought the Chef Salad was delicious!

My wife ordered shrimp Caesar’s salad and the shrimp tasted like salmon. It was awful. The other woman in our party ordered chicken fried steak and it was grizzlely. My steak was good.

Emailed our reservation; asked for a confirmation. Got none. Told them it was our anniversary and requested a table near the windows, we were seated near the front door not near the windows. No specials. Today’s soup was tomato (which was always good in 5th grade). Entree was undercooked. This is why the place was empty. Sad.

Took away the order menu with great eggs Benedict. Now an over priced buffet that I get for free when we stay at hotel while traveling. Bring back the menu and I’ll be back.

Perfect day for lunch on the patio! Enjoyed the 12 extra large, grilled to perfection shrimp atop a bed of fresh greens, tomatoes, and cucumber with a delicious house made dressing. Iced tea had no bitterness. My husband’s Rueben was thick, perfectly grilled and full of flavor. Lake and golf course made a beautiful backdrop and service great as usual. Only downside was I had to leave and go back to work!

Our server was exceptionally nice. The price was very fair. I could not give a higher rating because of two issues. First, I had the garlic chicken that had a wonderful taste, unfortunately, the chicken was so tough I was unable to chew it and therefore, after one bite did not finish it. Second, I brought the tough chicken to the attention of our server and she stated that there have been a lot of complaints about the chicken being tough. WOW, a lot of complaints and it did not get corrected, nor were we offered any gratuity, apology, etc. by the management. The only thing that the management told us was to exit around the building with my friend’s service dog. Seems that there is a miscommunication between the management and customers. The meal was a fair price and we would have spent more if we could buy drinks. We were unaware of the private liquor license until after we were seated.

We were here for the breakfast buffet. They were out of a lot of items but replenished them after a little wait. The grits and gravy were thick and needed to be thinned. The food was tasty.
