Rising Sun Restaurant was established in 1981 and is a family oriented business. We have three locations in Mokena, New Lenox, and Frankfort. We specialize in both Cantonese and Mandarin cuisines. Cantonese style is probably the most familiar to Americans, originating from the southern region of China, and is best known for its quick, stir-fry cooking, a method of cooking where the meat is tender and the vegetables are crisp. Mandarin style originates from the northern region of China and is best known for its spicy flavor.

After a craving for Asian cuisine, we stopped here. It was our first time visiting and it did not disappoint. For our order we had Mongolian beef and a combination plate which included an egg roll, shrimp in lobster sauce, fried rice, and egg drop soup. The egg rolls were large, and portion sizes were great, the perfect size. I highly recommend the shrimp in lobster sauce. It was so good! Prices were good too! We especially loved the hot tea readily available on our table. The waitress was very attentive. We will definitely eat here again.

1st time visting this place !!!!Food So fresh it taste like they just picked the veggies from the farm today. Husband and I ordered Appitezer for 2 and we both ordered The Kung po chicken meal which came with soup and a giant egg roll Hubby got the vegetable soup taste divine I went with egg drop I was NOT disappointed. The food was amazing I didn’t need to add salt or pepper which for me is a big thing as i love salt but this food was seasoned nicely even Gordon Ramsey would approve I think!!! They give you Ice water and hot tea as soon as you are seating and the tea was sooo good we didn’t order any other drinks.

I don’t know where to start. We have traveled to so many different places, regions, and even internationally to 27 countries and have frequently our share of Chinese eateries. This is by far the worst Chinese restaurant I’ve been so unlucky to visit and will never be back. The egg rolls seemed like they were made in a factory and fried. The stuffing were slimy and really gross. My kids and I took one bite and we had to spit it out on the napkin. My dish was mostly bean sprouts and really really bland. There was no taste to it. The fried rice seems like it was prepared in old grease. It has that old grease smell. The egg drop soup taste somewhat like it was made from Cheetos. Above all the female waitress was rather rude. We asked what was sin the dish, she said “you can see in the menu” but the lunch menu does not have any ingredients listed on them. Finally she pointed out to look at the main menu. Even then, after looking at the main menu, it does not match the lunch menu. I asked if the kids wanted to leave, but they were tired and hungry. They said let’s give it a shot. .and they were disappointed. One of my kiddos only took 5 bites of his dish and didn’t want to finish it. It’s so bad we didn’t even take the food with us in the take out box. Overall, it’s a big disappointment. I’m not sure how this establishment get 4.3 overall stars. There’s not an option for zero star. Don’t be mislead by other review. You will regret it.

“ The food came in jumbo sizes for a reasonable price. They also included a bunch of sauces for no charge on the side. The fried shrimp was amazing and you should definitely try it with the sweet & sour sauce. I definitely recommend this place for anyone having a taste for Chinese food!”

The food was great. I had the chicken and broccoli dinner. The egg rolls were very good, crispy and fresh. They arrived quickly. The chicken and broccoli dinner took a little longer. It was cooked well, steamed I suppose, the chicken was very tender and thin. The waitress was very friendly. Tea is served before the meal and you finish with the traditional fortune cookie. The meal was a little pricey at 24 dollars. Although I did take some home with me. I have eaten here several times before. Their tangerine chicken is really good.

I ordered curry chicken last night, they asked if I wanted mild, medium, or hot, so I said hot. The strange delivery driver showed up to drop it off while flashing a flashlight into my home for some strange reason but I digress. My front door was open and it took me a second to get to the door so maybe he was looking for me? But when I tasted the “HOT” Curry Chicken it was literally chicken in orange water with absolutely no flavor at all. In the past the curry chicken was good, but I guess they fell off unfortunately. We’ll, time to search for my new favorite Asian restaurant.☹️

Went for Mother’s Day dinner around 4pm. It was not busy inside and we got seated immediately. After giving us menus our waiter disappeared for a while. When we ordered the Combination meals on the front of the menu, he told us we couldn’t order those today. Should have told us that as he handed us the menus. We ordered other items, but were never asked if we wanted something to drink. After our orders came we never saw our waiter again until he brought the check. I boxed and bagged my own doggie bags before he came by with the check. Bottom line: Good food, terrible service.
