Found this spot from Google when my mom & I were driving cross-country & needed to stop somewhere for food. The reviews looked good & so did the food/menu so we decided to stop. We were NOT disappointed! The customer service was great, our waitress was very attentive & fast, the FOOD was AMAZING. When I read other reviews I saw someone recommend the brisket quesadilla so we got it and whoever that was, you were right! It was delicious! In total we got the burrito ranchero (I think, if I remember correctly), the brisket quesadilla, & the brisket stuffed avocado. If you are craving authentic Mexican food, this is definitely the place to stop at. We were so happy when we left. If we are ever in Terrell, TX we will DEFINITELY be stopping by again!

We went to the Taco Festival only to find only one legitimate Taco vendor. We still in line for 30 minutes and finally gave up cuz they hadn’t moved. The one place that was making tacos ahead the slowest employee I’ve ever seen. So we check the mighty googler for Mexican food near us and found Rio l e r m a Mexican food was within walking distance. While we were walking in his family arrived at the same time and told us they eat there every week . Suggested a couple plates which I immediately could not remember when it came down to order it . Place had an excellent menu full of great dishes and variety. How are the food was good but it was not outstanding. I spoke to my family and nieces from Forney and they love the Forney location. We always judge by the salsa and chips and they were nothing special. However I see a lot of dishes that I would like to try and maybe visit again. Still I’m not saying it wasn’t good let me make that clear again. I’m just not putting it in five star category but it’s definitely great place to bring family and friends and enjoy some good drinks.

11 of us arrived at 2 pm, and the restaurant was mostly empty midday. My husband ordered a taco salad which arrived as lettuce, squash, guacamole, sour cream and chili with a small of meat cooked in, no cheese, no taco meat, no refried beans, etc and a shell that was quite stale. I ordered Chilis Rellano (one of my favorites from most places). Unfortunately, they are nothing like chili’s I’ve had elsewhere. You receive one chile, no cheese stuffed or other meat option, just a touch of cheese melted on top, made with barely seasoned brisket and a watery tomato salsa, not a cooked sauce per se. I’m diabetic so I saved my carbs up for this treat specifically and was saddened. I requested a vegetable in place of beans and rice as a diabetic replacement, thats why my plate is more empty. The veggies arrived separate. Be prepared, it’s extra to substitute. However, I will say the squash/mixed veggie medley was the best part of my meal. My dinner was left essentially uneaten and picked up without even a question from staff. We were all shocked to find a 20% gratuity added to our bill. We all tip well over this amount. Having a tip deducted without mention was offensive to most of us prepared to leave more, so most did not at this point. The service was great otherwise.

The chips are fresh (not to thick and not to thin) and the salsa has this awesome flavor that I can’t put my finger on. The dish I had was called Maria’s Salad with fajita chicken. I added a scoop of guacamole, dressing on the side and it was amazing!!! I can’t wait to go back and try it with the Salmon. My husband had Pork Stew Chile Relleno and he said it was delicious as well! The prices may be a little higher than the average Mexican restaurants but you leave stuffed (because the servings are big) and with a big smile on your face (because of how tasty the food is)!

They were somewhat busy which is a good indication that the food is good. The salsa was ok. They use Mexican oregano so it has an Italian like marinara taste. The margarita was small but good. The fajitas were tasty and seasoned well. Our wait person had 2 large tables so we waited a lot. The chip and salsa lady was awesome. A very nice helpful guy filled in when our wait person was busy. He might have been the owner or manager.

Best Mexican food in the area! It was absolutely delicious, hot, and fresh. Our table had chips and queso, enchiladas, and tacos. The staff is also super friendly and attentive. It is definitely my new go-to in Terrell.
