This place was great. Its kind of tucked away, but worth the drive. I have been looking for an authentic Puerto Rican restaurant for a while and glad I could finally find one. The hours that you see here could change though not sure how often that happens. I had tried to make arrangements to come here a few times with my friends before finally being able to stop in on a Tuesday night. The downside? Parking & parking lot is overall not good, needs to be maintained and or paved. But food? Excellent

Is sad when we have Puerto Rican restaurants but the food is not good when puertorican food is really good I had rice with pernil and my friends and it was cold n dry like it was a left over plate. No flavor . I had friends tell me puertorican food is no good so I proof them wrong I went n bought what I needed n cooked rice w gandules n made a pernil n potatoe salad n they loved it. I bought monfongo from here too n it was good. They just need to work on their food with seasoning n not burnt the meat or overcooking , I just hate that people buy puertorican food in some restaurants n think that’s how our food really is , you just have to be dedicated to cooking n love doing it to work as a chef making puertorican food n you will have so much customers n please don’t serve pork that’s old you could get sued , I’m still going to give this place another chance in about a week n see how the food taste but if is still the same way I probably won’t ever come back.

I was here at this restaurant 5yrs ago but didn’t return bc the food wasn’t that great but I’m very sadden to say that it’s not good at all now. And I say this as constructive criticism bc I always want mi gente to do well. We came in and the place looked so dark and it didn’t feel clean at all. I ordered few dishes. The Carne Guisada was extremely dry tasting. The Chuletas de Cerdo estaba ok it only came with one chop for a dinner portion. The Mofongo was very good, I truly enjoyed that. My Canoa de Carne didn’t look appealing at all so I didn’t eat. The alcapurrias looked very greasy and overcooked so once again I didn’t eat them. What I was really disappointed with was the Mollejitas y Guineitos side dish. It literally looked gray color weigh no flavor at all, the bananas were so mushy and overcooked. No color, no vinegar nothing. Just tasted like boiled vegetables. My empanadillas de Carne was another issue, the meat had no flavor at all!! And when they were fried they were not sealed correctly so it cooked the insure with the meat. I say this to say, Puerto Rican food has so much flavor, color, peppers, olives, so many ingredients and this place is just doing the bare minimum to make Our food but MI gente, you know YOUR food could be so much better! And the cleanliness in the bathroom is an issue.

This place fell off over the last few years. Asty time has better food and cheaper. This place doesn’t give enough meat. They serve you kids portions for almost $20 meal. Asty time was closed on Monday so I decided to come here instead and it was a huge mistake. I rarely leave reviews, but Rincon Tropical is doing its customers a disservice. They suck!

If you’re looking for authentic puertorrican food, take it from a puertorrican, this place is great. We make the trip when possible because it tastes like food from back home.

Although they didnt have adequate parking, hot sauce, or the drink that I wanted, or soap, or toilet paper in the bathroom. This place still deserves a four star rating. I went for the food and was not disappointed. Surprised in fact. The food was so delicious and flavorful it made up for what they didn’t have. I will definitely be back.

They need to step it up. My daughter and I ordered tostones and carne frita the tostones were burned, it’s sad because this is one of the few carribean food restaurants here in Detroit and if the customer that comes for the first time to enjoy a “Puertorican” meal will be very disappointed. First of all its not authentic Puerto Rican food, and it seems like they don’t take pride in cooking my food to really give people a taste of my ISLAND’S delicious food!!!
