Definitely should’ve read the reviews before stopping by. The food was very BLAND! Red beans TERRIBLE! Only thing that was good was the fries and sprite. Oh and i like the roll a little bit. Definitely never coming back, And how dare they call their gumbo “GUMBO” !

First and last time eating here the food was so bad I can’t even describe it. The fish had zero taste and the rice was no better. The cornbread tasted weird, chemical weird. The only decent thing was the white beans. I ordered a jug of Tea and it was super sweet, I mean like a kid made look aid and used a half bag of sugar sweet. When I was ordering my food it had this older guy talking to one of the staff about his drink. He said it was to sweet. I should have taken that as a warning but I was like he is older and it was just to sweet for him. But no, it was way to sweet. When food is good I rarely leave reviews, but this food was so bad I feel it’s my duty to warn others.

Food isn’t amazing but it’s quite good. It’s definitely a go-to when we need something quick and filling. The portions are big, so a meal for 2 will feed 3 of us with some leftover.

Sooo disappointed with the food. I had been looking for a great cajun food restaurant while in state and thought this would have been a good option. The food was bland, the noodles were super dry and it only came with about 6 pieces of meat (sausage/chicken), the red beans were only served as beans, no rice. I’ve never been given red beans without the rice so this was so odd to me, but I’m guessing normal for BR so I can’t be too mad with that. My partner ordered fish and gumbo… the gumbo was made in a very thin soup/broth, I wouldn’t consider it a roux and the fish was a bit rubbery. All wasn’t bad because customer service was good, it was just bad food and it didn’t feel like money well spent.

Everything from Rice and Roux is SO good!! The daily specials rock (especially the hamburger steak and the pot roast), the jambalaya is fantastic and the pastalaya is wonderful!! And there are no words for how good their fried fish with remoulade sauce is, oh my!! We always bring out of town guests here for a true taste of Louisiana!

Not bad but had to tweak the jambalaya once I got home. Added more seasonings and sautéed onions and peppers. Smoky flavor of chicken was great but added a little more andouille. Bread pudding was very good.

Honestly couldn’t have been more disappointed. I spent nearly $25 on a single order just to be told 15+ minutes into waiting for my food that they didn’t have what I ordered and I needed to choose something else. As I did not want anything else I was offered a refund. Should’ve just given the food back for a full refund because it went straight into the trash. The DRIEST and SALTIEST food I have ever attempted to eat in my life. Only flavor included in the jambalaya as well as gumbo was salt. If this is “Creole” then I need to leave Louisiana. Even my roll was WET! I wish I was embellishing, at least if I was I could’ve eaten today. Sadly, that’s not the case and I’m out $25 and have yet to eat. Would NOT recommend.

Jambalaya was very bland (including the chicken) and mainly consisted of rice. I had to literally dig to find a piece of sausage in my meal. My experience was very underwhelming for a “Cajun” restaurant. Unfortunately, I will have to pass this establishment up next time.

My wife and I happened upon this establishment on accident. We are from Northern Illinois and are visiting and thought why not try Rice and Roux. We both were very glad we did. The staff was upbeat and extremely helpful with suggestions. They guided us to a feast worthy of the Justin Wilson (the Cajun Chef)whom I grew up watching on TV and would say his tag line ” You will get your enjoys I guarentee!”

We were passing through Baton Rouge and were excited to try some gumbo and jambalaya. Long story short, the food was terrible. The seafood gumbo tasted like if you put raw seafood in a bucket of water and heated up that same water and served it with the seafood. My son got a moldy bread roll and I was just grossed out. I’m not picky when it comes to food, but we just absolutely could not finish eating this. Listen to me, we have a 9 hour drive to Texas. My guts are bubbling. This is a nightmare.
