Came here for a business lunch. Great food, great service, the atmosphere is kind of dated but the people make up for it.

Okay here’s the deal – sure, Ricardo’s is no Michelin star restaurant. It’s a classic Tex-Mex restaurant, think along the lines of a better version of Azteca. But having eaten here over 100 times since growing up, Ricardo’s has always been consistent, and has always delivered on its promise. Huge portions, unlimited chips and salsa (that actually tastes good and isn’t watered down), giant margaritas, plenty of space, and kind servers who may not interact with you much as they fast walk to their next booth, but somehow always get you your food quickly despite seeming chronically understaffed. All my friends who I have convinced to come here know it as my favorite restaurant, and much to their chagrin, have been unable to help themselves from enjoying it too, or even requesting we go there for dinner themselves. If you are craving a big portion of some excellent, down to earth Tex-Mex without pretense, Ricardo’s will welcome you warmly through their doors. On my way to my wedding reception venue, my now wife and two close friends surprised me with a quick photo shoot outside the restaurant, if that is any indication of my feelings towards this place. I recommend one of the Monterrey Combinations if you have a big appetite like myself, or a Fajita plate to share. For vegetarians, the cheese and onion enchiladas with black beans are delicious. Now en route to our honeymoon in Italy, I am asking myself, do they have a Ricardo’s over there?

I REALLY don’t want to hate on this place. I have been here many times before and was one of my faves when I’m nearby. I think this time it was just a fluke. All I ordered was a chili Colorado Burrito and a side taco ( ground beef). The taco meat was no flavor, and the chili Colorado was very stringy and hard to eat. I absolutely will try again and encourage you to do the same, they are super gracious. Next time I will ask for a replacement or a different dish or help from a manager because I know they would make it right.

We used to go to this family restaurant many years ago. Overall food and service are good. They prepare the tortilla freshly at the entrance of the restaurant so they are great. Margarita are very good. On the other hand, I wish they had a guacamole option prepared at the table. Restaurant looks a bit dated

I used to love this place but the main dining area is now pretty rundown and dirty. Cardboard is tapped to the ceiling in one area, the glass dividers between tables needs to be cleaned or replaced and the main fixtures weren’t on making it pretty dark. Food and service were fine.

As Texans and lovers of Mexican and TexMex, we took a chance on this place, and it’s… okay. The service is fantastic! The food, however, is not of the authentic tastes we’re used to. Too thick tortillas, tough rice, and meat both under and over seasoned. That said, we did LOVE the chips and salsa. Overall, overpriced, but that’s hard to contend for the area.

Salsa only has about one tenth of gradients. Look at the picture I take: it is 90% water, what a joke!

Delicious queso. Good fajitas. A reliable, tasty Tex Mex experience. Nothing fancy but A+.
