To put it plain and simple if you have any food allergy don’t waste your time in coming to this restaurant. I told the waitress I have a gluten allergy and she stated that I have just the person for you to talk to. This other woman comes out and I explain my allergy and how she proceeded should have been a cue for us to just get up and walk out of the restaurant. But typically Mexican cuisine is extremely accessible to me. They do have a dedicated chip fryer and their made in house tortillas are safe. However, she said in so many words that they don’t know what is in their dishes or any of the seasonings that the cooks use in the kitchen. She then went on to say that it would be too difficult to talk to the kitchen staff and for them to understand what was being said to them to find out what ingredients were used. I ordered the retro salad and asked if any seasoning was used on the meats and they said that there wasn’t. It was also said that all the salads were safe and compliant. With this particular salad no dressing comes with it. To get a cup of ranch it was 1.50$ Also,

This was the first time going to Retro and it was really good. We ordered Chicken on the Beach and Chipotle Chicken. They were decent size portions of food and we ended up taking food to go. We arrived a little before 5pm and there was no wait. However, right after we sat down, more people started showing up and waiting outside for a table.

Worth the wait. Miguel and Ronica it is amazing. Love the atmosphere, the music choices, and the food. I don’t think I have ever had such service- absolutely perfect. The attention to detail- everything was beautifully plated and so so delicious. I am so happy you’re back.

Went for our first trip to try out this new little restaurant in Jasper. If you in town, stop in and give them a try. I am a chips and salsa affectionado and we started with a flight of various unique salsas. I really enjoyed the mango habanero option. I had the carnitas off the grill option and hubby had the carnitas burrito with a cream sauce and pineapple. Overall, I would say its worth a visit to sample some of the wares at Retro Mexican Cuisine.

I’m originally from SoCal so Mexican food in the Midwest usually disappoints but this place is legit. Birria isn’t easy to make but the birria tacos here were My father in law got the carnitas plates and he really enjoyed it. Portions are very generous
