Incredible. One of the best meals I’ve had in my life. This place offers traditional, authentic, rich, and elegant French food that takes you to that country with every bite. Great wine selection, service was great, and we will be back. Well done Chef, thank you!

The menu is small but I wanted to try everything. Great wine selections. We shared several dishes including the gnocchi which was some of the best I’ve ever had. Even the salad was delicious. The halibut was cooked perfectly. The manager Stephane and the staff were very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

When dining out in Fairfield County, I’ve always have taken it with a grain of salt. This is attributable to its proximity to New York City; where majority of the talent and service industry resides. It’s obviously a magnet for this region, hence CT usually falls short in the hospitality industry. The service and attention at L’Ostal reminds me of the Philadelphia hospitality scene (properly trained and employees focused on long term commitment to owner and standards). It’s refreshing to witness this holds true at this establishment. As far as the food is concerned; any top tier restaurant should be lucky. I have yet to be disappointed or interject how the dishes could be enhanced during my dining. It’s truly a delightful palate experience and CT should be appreciative as much as I am.

Dinner at L’Ostal was incredible! Every single dish was carefully crafted with such attention to detail. The quality of ingredients was outstanding right down to the olive oil on the local burrata.

I enjoyed the food and restaurant. It’s interesting and some different items on the menu that were intriguing. We sat at the bar, and our sever was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine. More food choices would add to the expenses but overall very good and would definitely go back.

Food was exceptional. Probably the best fine dining in Fairfield County outside of Greenwich. Cocktails and wine are excellent albeit overpriced ($22 for a very conservative pour of a glass of wine from a bottle that you can buy at retail for $20-$30). Also, they really need a BUY BACK POLICY at the bar for their regular customers. It’s a shame they don’t. It would make a big difference at feeling like home.

What a disappointment! My husband and I were looking forward to a special meal here for our birthdays. After reading all the rave reviews, we were expecting a fantastic experience. Not the case. The good service was the one positive thing – that and my starter of tortellini. But my husband’s escargot was dry, hard, and flavorless. My duck entree (I love duck) was also dry and overcooked and so heavily salted that it tasted like they dumped a half cup of salt on it. The farrow that came with it was mushy and the turnips were hard and flavorless. My husband’s halibut entree was cold and flavorless. We both got the same dessert with high hopes – but the profiteroles and chocolate sauce was another case of extreme over-salting. I love salt. But this was inedible. Considering how expensive this restaurant is, it shouldn’t be anywhere near this bad. Do not recommend…

First rate experience – food, atmosphere, service— delicious, very attractive (cozy & socially distanced, with transparent partitions between most tables); very comfortable atmosphere – relaxed and welcoming. Other early diners were a family, another couple, and a few people at the bar who were clearly regulars..Our server was very kind and helpful. The cheeses were yummy, attractively presented with interesting and equally attractive condiments . My husband loved the special — coq au vin and tagliatelle with duck. Both beautifully presented and delicious..I was equally happy with the gnocchi. Very flavorful. Overall very satisfying experience during an otherwise stressful weekend. Thank you! We will be back!

City quality food and service. It is a hidden gem in Darien. The food is technically impressive and delicious. Service and excellent and the dessert bar cart is a fun way to end the night.
