For the price this place is not worth going to if you’re not staying in the hotel and getting it for free. The restaurant was empty when I got there and they put me at a table and booth with stains on them. The waitress took forever to come over, I mentioned I was staying with a group and she told me to help myself to the buffet only later to try to charge me because she couldn’t find me on the group list (why wouldn’t you check beforehand??). The buffet food there is runny eggs, decent bacon, a couple muffins and some cereal- I stuck to the cereal. I’m just surprised that this place is subpar since the hotel is so nice and this is so close to the arch.

If the breakfast buffet is not in operation, go elsewhere. The food is good, but not worth what you will pay. The $15 pancakes were almost silver dollar pancakes.

The staff was very nice, however our steaks were cold to the touch when we got them. We send them back and we had ordered them medium and they came back warm but still medium/rare and then potatoes were cold. Two tables that came in well after us were served before us. We went here for convenience because we stayed at Hyatt but we will not waste our money next time. Service was very slow.

When I was staying at the Hyatt Recency, I looked forward to an enjoyable breakfast buffet. What I found, rather was a buffet lacking your essential breakfast items such as pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, etcetera. The sausage links, bacon, and breakfast potatoes were good, but the eggs were rubbery and seemed like they had been out for too long. Their bakery items were good, although a bit dry. The wait staff was friendly, but overall inattentive with refills and had to be chased down. Overall, the buffet was lacking and could be improved upon.

The hotel no longer has a breakfast buffet. They serve breakfast items but you have to request a complete meal (eggs, bacon, hash browns, etc) which is ok but nothing special.

Best breakfast buffet I’ve had at a restaurant… ever. Everything is simply outstanding. You can get custom-made omelets prepared right in front of you, and they even have chicken sausage, which is great for me because I have a pork allergy.

Good thing thing the breakfast buffet was included with the overpriced room because I would not have paid extra. The featured item was biscuits & gravy. I found some biscuits at the end of the pastery table next to a castiron pot on a hot plate filled with what could best be described as boiling buttered water with chunks of sausage stuck to the bottom. I never did find the gravy. I did however find butter for my biscuit across the room at the end of the fruit bar. The bacon was pleantiful, but was apparently leftover from the last time Paul McCartney played Busch stadium. The coffee was hot, but it was Starbucks so you draw your own conclusions there. On a positive note, the ice water was clear and came in a glass filled with ice and there was no surcharge for the utensils, plates or napkins. Fail.

I was very disappointed with the quality of the food and service this weekend (23Feb13) at Red Kitchen at Hyatt Regency St. Louis. We ordered three appetizers: Crab Cakes, Beef Short Rib Flatbread, & Toasted Ravioli. The Ravioli was good and the Pomodoro Sauce that accompanied it was fresh and vibrant tasting (perhaps the best part of the whole meal). The Crab cake tasted as if it had been in the back of a freezer too long and had absorbed the flavors/odors of the freezer & and the avocado relish that accompanied it was terrible completely over-powered by onions, you could not taste anything else. The Beef Short Rib Flatbread was soggy and unappetizing too much juice and sauce for the tortilla like “flatbread” to absorb, the Horseradish Cream on top was quite bland and tasted more like Ranch Dressing than Horseradish. Lastly, our waitress was not attentive, she did not offer us a Children’s Menu (I was with my two year old daughter), she only offered to refill my water once, after I had asked her for our check; overall she gave the impression that she was not familiar with the requirements of her job.
