Wow. The specialty rolls are worth it!! The Super volcano roll is my favorite so far!! Relatively quick service. Good presentation, extraordinary taste in the rolls, Super volcano roll 1st pick. 2nd is the Godzilla roll then 3rd Pink Lady roll and then the Sexy Lady roll. Can’t wait till the next time I’m in town. The young lady that was waiting on us was, busy…it was difficult to get her attention as we wanted to add to our order. Not to pick on this topic but it seems like they needed more help. As the waiters were also clearing the tables, instead of helping the guest. Anyways food was out of this world and I can’t wait to make it down there again to try some new rolls and to get the Super volcano roll again!! The super volcano roll took about 15 min to make but it was totally worth the wait!!

I’ve had sushi from all over the world and I can honestly say that I would vote Red Ginger Sushi over New York City Omakase any day. Their fish is so fresh and the hospitality and service is unmatched. You can really tell that every single person working there is passionate about their work and it shows in their culinary products. This is a great spot for first dates and even bringing friends for a nice sushi boat. This is HANDS DOWN the best sushi spot in Iowa City. I LOVE their Manhattan roll and New Age Roll. Can’t recommend enough.

Red ginger is my husband and i’s absolute favorite sushi restaraunt, hands down! Their sushi always tastes so fresh and delicious. Their appetizers are amazing and always fresh. pictured appetizers in this review include crab rangoons, sexy Jalapeños, kimchi, and Rocky shrimp. My husband always gets the ‘salmon lover’ meal (pictured) which includes some wonderful fresh salmon sushi, a salad and soup. I always get the red ginger roll (pictured) and the Boston roll (pictured). There are two other rolls pictured in this review that I can’t remember the name of, but they were delicious! The kimchi wasn’t my favorite and gave me the worst heart burn of my life, lol, but that may just be a me thing. If you want good sushi in the iowa city/coralville area, red ginger is the place to go!

Who knew that Iowa City would have sushi, much less good sushi! The salmon tartare with ponzu sauce was top notch-I would definitely order that again. We had personalized service from I believe the owner. My one wish is that it wasn’t so cluttered in the restaurant.

We arrived at 5:15 and there was only one other table eating. Waiter was not real familiar with menu – I was more familiar after looking at the website before arriving. The soup wasn’t hardly warm and the salad had a pool of liquid in the bottom with wilted lettuce. It was evident it had been sitting in the bowl & leftover from noon. My husband ordered teriyaki and I had sushi. It concerned me I saw my sushi sitting on counter of sushi bar long before it was served when my husband’s entree came. Needless to say you don’t want to eat raw fish at room temp. Had the potential to be excellent food but don’t serve room temp sushi. We sat quite awhile waiting for our ticket to pay and they still weren’t very busy. We won’t be returning.

I am not the type to leave reviews at all unless they deserve one. I got there and as soon as I walk in they greeted me. They gave me time to look the menu since I took takeout. After not knowing what to order a girl help me out to order by informing me about the food. The service was great and the food amazing. I got the Korean style dumpling soup and miso soup. California roll and a shrimp tempura supreme roll. Man it was delightful to taste everything. If you are looking for oriental food this is the place to go.
