Honestly I felt It’s a little expensive for the ambiance and the restaurant had very simple low budget seating. But when it comes to the taste, it’s fatalistic. Trust me, if you love spicy South Asian cuisine, this is the place to be in New York city.

This restaurant is known for good Sri Lankan food. The owner is a nice person who wants to run the extra mile for his customers. But the issue is with the clowns who answer the telephone and, of course, take orders at the counter/ cashier. Your attitude will not attract customers regardless of their nationality.

Incredible restaurant! Staten Island is home to one of the largest Sri Lankan communities in the US, and Randiwa really exemplifies the tremendous culinary gems that exist in NYC’s oft-forgotten southern most borough. Besides outstanding hoppers (think fermented rice flour-based rotis topped with an egg) and kottu (instead of stir fried noodles, think a savory chopped roti stir fry with veggies), this restaurant is famous for its lamprais, which consists of a heap of fresh ghee rice, served with a feast of mezze-like dishes (goat, fish, chicken, jackfruit, twice cooked eggs, chilis), all encased in a banana leaf, and then baked in an oven. Eating lamprais is pure ecstasy for the senses- sight, taste, smell, texture…..

In comparison to the other over hyped places in the area, this restaurant was amazing. The food and service was great and it’s spacious. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a homely authentic experience, you should stop by :))

The food was good but certain items could be better. We got lamprais, deviled chicken, Ceylon chicken curry, chicken kottu roti and wattalappan. All of the chicken were a bit rough. I had high hopes for the kottu but it was bland and had an unpleasant smoky taste to it. Deviled chicken tasted great.

Service was very prompt and the restaurant is very clean, my family and I were traveling from Maryland and would do so again to come back here. It was a great dining experience with delicious food and great selection. It’s a must try in the area!

Excellent food. Glad we stopped by randomly. Highly recommended. Parking is little tight. Few spots shared by 4-5 stores. The food makes it worthwhile though. Watch out with the spice level. Don’t overestimate your tolerance to spicy food. Sri Lankan food can be spicy. Check out the pictures of what we ordered. Both of these were superb.

We had the Hoppers with Chicken and String Hoppers with Dhal (as the veggie and ask for Kiri sodi). We enjoyed everything but the chicken curry. The curry it self didn’t have any flavor and chicken tasted dry and not soft.
