I was excited to try this restaurant as it’s a “sister” restaurant as Lewis BBQ (I’m my opinion the best bbq in Charleston). We got chips and salsa and ordered some adult beverages. Love the green salsa that comes with the chips! My review on the food is mainly for the main dishes. For the main dishes, we ordered steak fajitas and Cora’s combo. The food was bland with not match flavor. I was really hoping that the food would be near authentic Mexican with all the flavors and seasoning but Rancho Lewis lacks that. Overall the restaurant is big and nice with indoor and outdoors apace; great ambiance and service but okay food.

Best Mexican restaurant in Charleston! Great outdoor patio and indoor ambiance for family, business or date. From the fresh chips, salsa and guac, to a beautiful salad and sampler dish, my husband and I loved every flavor and texture. We both tried the skinny margarita as well and were very impressed. Highly recommend and we also were able to walk in on a Saturday afternoon without reservation.

I want to know Lewis! He has some great restaurants. We went to the bbq and it was fire. Rancho was no exception. We got there early and sat right away. The space was super cool and homey with a lot of cute touches. The service was fantastic. Very accommodating but not pushy. We had the guac and both quesos with tortilla chips and they brought corn and flour tortillas. The queso came in a tortilla bowl, and I actually ate the bowl. My friends had the enchiladas, and he absolutely loved them. The guac was so fresh. Probably the best I’ve ever had and that’s saying a lot. We also have the wedge salad and I know you’re thinking, why would you get a salad but the blue cheese dressing was delicious and we added on the chicken and it was the most flavorful and tender chicken I’ve ever had. The drinks were spectacular also. I had the Mexican martini. We also had the mescal drink and a margarita- all were delicious. They make the chips in the back and I totally believe it. They were super fresh and crispy. I will definitely come back when I’m in town.

Extremely happy with our experience here. Great food, service and atmosphere. We had the Lloyd Lewis and it was enough food to share for a party of two. We also had the friend ice cream, and it was yum. The salsa bar was amazing as well, and the tortilla chips were hot and crispy. The service was excellent – food came out fast, and our server was nice. Definitely coming back.

Rancho Lewis was good, but frankly not worth the hype. I really did like my chicken enchiladas and their chips and salsa! However, at this price point and given the outstanding reputation of Lewis Barbecue, I expected more. Lewis Barbecue is among the best restaurants in all of Charleston, so I was very excited to hear they were diversifying with this restaurant. Unfortunately, they’re much better at barbecue than Mexican food. I’m sure I’ll give Rancho Lewis a second try one day, but meanwhile I’ll have gone back to Lewis Barbecue a dozen times!

This place came in high regard from many people when we moved into the area. Decided on a date night without the kids to stop by. Loved it! Small menu but everything on it was perfect, the only hard part was deciding and seeing food come out for other tables while we were waiting. “We were very hungry!” Drinks and food hit all the right places, Rancho Lewis will be seeing more of us.

Came in for a Monday night dinner, it wasn’t busy but it felt busy. The kitchen beat the drinks, so the wait wasn’t long but the whole evening felt a bit off with timing. Not sure if they were short staffed or what.

The food is mid at best. Rice has absolutely zero flavor. Could have broken a tooth on the taco but that was still good. The chicken enchilada was also good. Steak fajitas were pretty good. Chorizo queso was the best thing we ordered. The other cheese dip was decent as well. Chips n salsa was on point. My favorite being the green. We sent back the veggie enchiladas.

Great meal to impress your out of town guests! We enjoyed the red Chile enchiladas, steak fajitas and shrimp fajitas. Plenty of options for different taste buds and a kid friendly menu as well. I also had the so far so bueno Margarita and overall tasty but would recommend a different presentation. The bowl is authentic to my culture but takes up a lot of table room and more chance of things falling in it with a large party.

Rancho Lewis’ atmosphere and staff are top notch, but when it comes to the food, it’s ok. That’s not saying it’s bad, it’s just being candid. Every restaurant can’t be a 5-star. I know Rancho soaks their chips for 30-hours in a lime juice concoction, but the lime taste can be overpowering. The salsa was puréed to much too. Taco Boy has better chips and salsa – sorry. The chicken fajitas had good flavor, much better than a typical, run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant; and the steak fajita was cooked to perfection – but $44 good? That’s up to debate. The roasted jalapeño on the plate is a nice touch, and the beans were savory. The location and proximity to Edmonds Toast Brewery compliments each other nicely. Overall, if someone invited me to Rancho Lewis for dinner I wouldn’t talk them out of it, and it’s a good “go to” for a nice atmosphere, but it’s not a “must visit” before other restaurants in the area.
