We don’t know enough about Salvadorean food to know how authentic the food is. I think we have excellent taste in food though and the food was delicious, plentiful and pretty cheap compared to where we live. Ordered the chicken soup, chicken tacos, a few different types of pupusas (queso, chicharron, loroco, espinaca and pollo) and an enchiladas for family of 4. Way too much food! The soup is HUGE! Wish we lived more local because we would definitely return.

If you are looking for authentic Salvadoran and Central American food, in comfortable surroundings then you should stop here when in the Kingston area. The music and clientele add to the simple Latin vibe. It can get loud on Friday evening (como no!). The staff and customers are warm and real.

Attended the 10/22 Jeff Beck show at the Ulster PAC and prior to the show and, knowing nothing of Kingston, wanted to grab a bite and drink(s) at a spot close to the theater. This place is a local gem; clean, good food, large portions, really good margaritas, fair prices and friendly staff. If there’s a complaint it would be the service being slow….real slow, but it was hard to get upset, the lovely waitress was juggling a number of different responsibilities. For those attending a show, or just local to the area, have no hesitation in getting a meal and/or drinks at Pupuseria Mi Ranchito. No it’s not fancy, but it’s authentic and welcoming to all.

Crispy-outside, gooey-inside bean and cheese pupusa for $2, an enormous cloying margarita for $7 (better to go for beer on tap if you want something with any ABV), and hip-shaking party-ready reggaeton boisterous in the background. I was no longer in the US while in this bar; what a treat. Service was fast and courteous. Two different people came over to thoughtfully pick up our hats and coats for us, which had slipped off the back of our chairs to the floor unnoticed.

The only place you can get Salvadoran food around here, and it’s legit too! The pupusas are amazing (obviously), and everything about it is so authentic.

Absolutely beautiful and tasty food!! The prices are super fair. The service was good but a bit slow. The reason I’m giving it a 3 star rating is strictly because of the bathroom, which I would advise all guys to avoid because it’s not clean, and the door doesn’t lock. Highly recommended for the food.
