Great place! Mike was a friendly server and the food was delicious. We will absolutely be returning and will try a variety of the curry menu items, per Mike’s recommendation. The lamb biryani was the best we’ve ever had.

Was a great experience I went for my birthday tonight an had a great time the whole restaurant is very nice love the tables and chairs. Got pakora a samosa as appetizer great flavor fresh an hot enjoyed it very much. Got the lamb biryani was to die for with the bread too and yogurt sauce on the side complimented it so well they sang a brought dessert. Give you plenty of naan with the mixed order the spice levels help you get to try different types of heat. Great service thank you Mike. We will be coming back.

I kept hearing about this restaurant. Went for the first time tonight and it was so so delicious! We got samosas, Chicken Korma. Lamb Curry, chili naan and carrot pudding for dessert. Our waiter Vicky was very kind and recommended great things. Everything was just so good. I can’t wait to go back!

So the Punjabi dhaba from Hammond has opened up another restaurant in ‘Kenner’ at the same location of ‘biryani pot’ last month. I used to go to Hammond to Punjabi dhaba but then it went down the drain as the food quality sucked and during my last visit in 2020, there were flies everywhere as in we couldn’t sit and eat so we had to rush out. That was the end of Punjabi dhaba for us as I never patronized ‘em again. I mean, hygiene is paramount or you shouldn’t be running a restaurant out of a gas station. The owners got complacent and commercial and the bad food wasn’t worth eating anymore. Anyway, so today Saturday 12/7/23, we decided to give their new location in Kenner a shot. I read the reviews but mostly by whites and well, I take reviews by whites on Indian food with a grain of salt. The buffet for $20 per adult and $13 for a child was fresh, I’ll give them that. However, it was lacking in taste. I tried everything on the buffet and only the goat biryani was ok, fresh dosa station was alright, chicken sheekh kebab & tandoori chicken was good as appetizers but the best dish was ‘daahi Bhala’ with tamarin sauce. Everything else, as I stated before, was lacking taste including chicken curry & butter chicken, no taste whatsoever. Their service was terrible as no one came to refill our water, they didn’t even leave a full water bottle on our table, no one came to pick up our empty dishes as I had to ask them twice. I saw one guy going around asking ‘whites’ how was everything and food etc but he skipped us. It seemed the Indian waiters were discriminating against the fellow Indians and it is a phenomenon which I’m well aware of but today, I personally felt it. Well, I tip ‘em the bare minimum as tipping is entirely based on service and if you’re gonna take care of your other guest better, then go expect tips from ‘em as well. In fairness, this white host/ woman did come to ask us, how was everything but overall, the service was not up to par and no, we’ll never patronize this restaurant again for pretty average food. People should go to ‘Mantra’ the best Indian restaurant in Louisiana period (and the chef of mantra is from Punjabi dhaba in Hammond but after he left there, there’s no good cook in Punjabi dhaba so skip it)!

I’m a vegetarian and also have celiac’s disease (allergy to gluten/wheat/grains). Going to diner with a friend we noticed this new place and figured we’d look at the menu. I was surprised to see they had labeled some gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. The waiter wasn’t 100% familiar with my allergy but asked a lot of questions and helped me order. The chef even came out with my food to double check my allergies. Everything was great, and true Indian food. Next day and still feeling fine so I will be going back.

I travel to Louisiana for work sometimes, and I was able to take my husband’s (who was originally from India) aunt out for dinner one night. The only indian restaurant I previously ate at in Kenner was NOLA Desi Kitchen on a previous trip (who has good food and a slightly lacking atmosphere), but they were closed. My Khalajaan said this restaurant was new and she was willing to try it. We both enjoyed our food and the service was attentive. The atmosphere was also really nice with good lighting, etc. I tend to like the slightly americanized Indian food, which is what my favorite Indian restaurant in Dallas has, and so this restaurant might be that, but my Aunt liked her Tandoori cheese.

Seriously some of the best food I’ve had in a while and for outstanding value! I have leftovers enough for another meal. Our waiter Mike was awesome, just extremely kind and takes his time with suggestions and answering questions about the impressively long menu. For me, the medium spice was perfect, but he was ready to take it back had it not suited my taste, if that is something important to you as a person trying new food. I highly recommend giving this place a shot! True gem. This pic is an appetizer we tried at Mike’s recommendation, delicious!!

We had a beautiful dinner at Punjabi last night! Our server Mike was wonderful and perfectly attentive to us throughout our dine! The food was beautifully presented, hot and delicious! We look forward to our next trip!
