Food is decent. A little pricey, but everything is nowadays. My only issue is with the level of service from staff members. No one will look you in the eye or acknowledge your existence as a customer. I’ve eaten here three times and it’s been that way each time. I can’t hear terribly well, and the fact that no one looks you in the face while speaking to you, or when they act like an annoyed robot when they have to repeat a phrase, it really makes you feel ignorant. It’s just basic customer service skills that are lacking. The shop isn’t jam-packed or crazy- just a normal steady lunch hour. Taking 30 seconds to take an order from a person as opposed to barking questions while staring at the ground makes a huge difference in how patrons perceive you. I don’t think I’ll stop by again.

Being a former Potbelly employee at a location in Manhattan, I know about Sideways Service and how employees are expected to interact with their customers as they prepare their food. I have not been impressed with my customer service at this establishment. Today my husband and I went through the drive-thru and I ordered a Mediterranean + turkey. I didn’t want any additional toppings on it, but I also wasn’t asked if I wanted any. When my husband ordered his Italian, he asked if he could have onions on it, rather than being given the “Mayo, mustard, hot peppers…” spiel. Whoever took our order could have Shown Us the Way better. After I finished my sandwich, I had to use the bathroom, so I walked inside the store for their facilities. When I walked in, no one was up in front to welcome me. As I left, no one said goodbye either, although someone was present on the line behind the counter. My husband and I often visit this Potbelly while we are on our way to visit my family in NC and I am partial to this brand. We both enjoy the sandwiches, but customer service can be improved.

When we walked in at 7:00 only one of four staff was actually friendly. The others were rude because we didn’t realize that the dining room was already closed (two hours earlier than the drive through @ 7pm) so we had to eat outside. One of the four sandwiches was missing multiple toppings. We stopped because we loved Potbelly’s in DC but we won’t be back to this location.

I use drive-thru once a week and always get the ” Grilled Chicken N Cheddar” Very nice people/ service and food is great price for what you get I will add that they now in last couple weeks are handing credit card machine out their service window for customers to add on tips. Most of time it’s adding wait time to visit and doesn’t work properly. I’ve worked in restaurants in my younger days and we never tipped cooks for making our food and I’m sure Potbelly is paying staff to make sandwiches not wait (( full service)) on customers. If I enter the facility and am waited on I’ll gladly tip for good/ great service, but not for making a sandwich that their already getting an hourly rate to make. Concerned customer

I’m torn on this one. Super nice staff, and the food was good. The pricing seems very high. 2 regular subs, which are pretty small, with chips and a small drink came out to $26. I understand everything is more expensive, but I feel like I could have gotten much more food for the cost!

The food was great, but an employee by the name of Michael had lots of trouble providing service. He seemed quite brain dead or on something as he had to ask for the toppings 3 times even though I repeated myself loudly and clear. It seemed like he forgot or wasn’t paying attention. Secondly, when someone I was with had ordered a sandwich, he asked whose it was, and before anybody could respond, he just throws the entire sandwich in the trash. Is this guy okay?

Great branding made us stop by. There were only about 5 other people in the store. BLTA was a huge disappointment, barely 3 strips of bacon, little avocado, very poor value and presentation for an $8.95 sandwich. The staff seemed bored and very disinterested in the level of service provided.
