I am from Chicagoland and Portillo’s is one of my family’s favorites!! So excited to find one in South Bend!! I go crazy for their chopped salad with their house dressing. (No gorgonzola for me) I could almost drink their house dressing! The beef and cheddar on croissant is so delicious!! Get a side of cheddar with your fries! Yum! We love the rhyme when they call your number too!

Awesome find, we were drawn in by the obviously large number of people eating here.. I had the bacon cheese burger, which was a perfect balance of pattie to cheese to garnish. Fries were good and hot and salted right. Service was a little slow as I suspect they are prioritizing the drive through line. Great ambience and great back story. Worth a visit/revisit. Portillos is a busy place. Lots of customers. I go there for the dipped Italian beef sandwiches and for hot dogs. I’ve had the hot dogs “Chicago Style” and with chili. I like the “Italian” beef dipped and with the hot peppers. I recently stopped and decided to try something new, so I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. I wasn’t disappointed. It was delicious. I only give them 4 stars on service. Service is not as good as when the store first opened.

The bread on my roast beef sandwich was so soggy that it made it almost impossible to eat. I ordered it dry with dipping sauce on the side. This should have left no reason for the wet yeasty goo that was served surrounding the delicious roast beef. Other than that the experience was great.
