The food and atmosphere are always top notch. The staff are beyond friendly and won’t mind chatting with you if it isn’t super busy! We’re always taken care of when we come in. It’s an awesome place!

From the bread to the Snapper, everything was subpar at best. You’re better off cooking at home . The server was sweet but the meal was so bad we didn’t even take the leftovers. Nashville is in desperate need of authentic and tasty Italian.

The food is delicious here, but we could hardly hear each other talk over the loud piano playing. While the playing is nice, if I can’t hear across a small table, it’s too loud. Also, the singing was very distracting. That’s the only reason this isn’t 5 stars — everything else is great.

The customer service was top tier. We had bread and drinks immediately when we sat down, the waiter was very helpful and extremely quick to refill our drinks, and the food came out quickly. We both got the Margherita pizza DOC which was maybe the best in town. Will definitely be going back!!!!

I am writing my review based solely on taste and quality of food, as I ordered my food to go. My mother had a stay in the hospital and one of her nurses recommended this place to me as I was craving pasta…creamy Alfredo to be exact! After seeing several reviews stating it was “the best fettuccine alfredo they’ve ever had”, I figured why not? I don’t expect it to be the best”I’ve” ever had but I figured it must be good enough to satisfy my craving. Well…it was definitely not the best nor was it the worst. I’d say the quality of the sauce saved it for me being that you can tell the sauce is made in house but unfortunately, the flavor was lacking a bit for me. Both sauce and chicken. I don’t blame them though. It seems to be a theme here in Nashville. Almost every restaurant I’ve ate at is lacking in the flavor department. With that being said, the food wasn’t terrible but I don’t think it’s worth the almost $30 I spent on it.

We’ve been going here for many years, but hadn’t been in a pretty good long while (covid and stuff). Went Saturday night and everything was awesome. Seated quickly, service (Kirsten B it says on the receipt) was great. It just seemed like it was a well oiled machine. I was surprised considering how that is not very often the case here in Nashville anymore. Food was excellent, service was excellent. In and out in about an hour on a Saturday night. Thanks! Keep up the good work!

EDIT: We went back for our 5th time tonight and it was a really bad experience, to say the least. It took 20 minutes to be acknowledged. The sweet tea wasn’t sweet, tasted like water, and didn’t have ice. The mashed potatoes had the consistency of soup, the green beans were very tough and raw. Our server was erratic and could barely form sentences. When we gave him feedback about our meal, he would not apologize, look us in the eye, and was overall dismissive of our concerns. We’re really disappointed. This was the only time in my life I haven’t left a tip.

Brandon was phenomenal. It was a busy night and Brandon greeted everyone with a smile, answered every phone call, and cashed out every To-Go order out! His customers service was top tier! He is definitely one of a kind! Whoever is the owner you have someone special keeping the doors open! great customer service is hard to come by these days.

I want to love Porta Via and will go back but last night we ordered the *same* meal that 6 months ago was absolutely fabulous and, sadly, it was disappointing. Six months ago the dishes were really understated and not so Americanized; sauces and cheese did not overwhelm the entire dish. The eggplant Parmesan was lightly breaded and delicate. The cannelloni were minimally covered in bechemel and cheese and you could actually taste the wonderful crepes and beef filling. Last night those same dishes were absolutely *blanketed* in thick mozzarella and the eggplant was like a one-inch thick eggplant steak and did not appear to be breaded or fried. You could not get away from the cheese!! What was all this cheese meant to hide? Remember the old commercials for Ragu marinara where the actor exclaimed “THAT’S Italian!”? Well last night’s entree were the antithesis of that sentiment. Dude. Seriously, enough with the cheese already. Italians do not eat like that. On the other hand the calamari remains absolute perfection, served on a bed of arugula with marinara that is really bright and tangy. And the coffee flavored gelato was wonderful. Our waiter, Ethan, was really the highlight of the entire meal. Personable, funny, attentive and efficient. (BIG shout out to Ethan!!) Yes, I will go back, in joyful hope of the return of Porta Via of yore.
