You have to come here for home cooking! Living my entire life on the MS Gulf Coast and not being here at Port City Cafe until now … I’ve missed out Big Time. Not anymore … We’ll be back! The atmosphere is relaxed, the service was on point and friendly, the Pot Roast had great taste and moist both on the Rebel Poboy and the Blue Plate and the tea was perfect! Gonna try breakfast bc pot roast is available then too! We love this place! Reminds me of my mama’s cooking, which I could never copy.

Great diner style food, with daily specials that include your beverage and dessert for around $12. The roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy and Lima beans were very good. My husband’s shrimp Po Boy with gumbo was good as well!

As a local, I’m shocked I’d never visited this restaurant before! We immediately felt at home upon entering. The atmosphere is cozy and styled nicely, without being over the top. Feels like a home style diner should. Prices and portions were great, and the cuisine itself was even better! Exactly the experience I hoped for, from the environment to the food. It was our young servers first day, and still everything was nearly perfect! Highly recommend, and definitely planning to return.

This was very much a hometown diner where we were welcomed and treated like family. The food was fantastic, the service was spectacular, and the atmosphere was phenomenal. The bill was exceptional, too. I expected to pay more for the quality, but I am certainly glad I didn’t have to! We will be back next time we are in Gulfport!

Update: 7/12/2023 – Still going here and still making the same order. According to my recent visit, it has changed owners. I’m not sure when but my food was super delicious, the owner was outgoing and friendly. From the cook to the wait staff it was a great visit.

We always go for breakfast – but had lunch here for the first time and it was so yummy! I got the “Who Dat” sandwich and it was so big I took the other half for lunch the next day! My dad is super picky about his greens & he said they were some of the best collard greens he has had!

Great place to do a quick call in order or take a little time and dine in. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. The food was hit or miss. Not that any of it tasted bad….just that it needed a little extra. All food was fresh. They were out of a couple things which the staff neglected to tell us until after we had ordered it. But it all worked out. Reasonable prices, had a few TVs to watch some sports and a good ole fashion lunch counter with stools. You won’t be disappointed with this local family run business.

I was a tiny bit leery after reading the reviews of the mistreatment of black people. And walking in and being the only ones. We ended up having great service and a good meal. We were greated with a smile and quickly given menus.I missed the breakfast cut off but was still allowed to order a Blt. It was great. The server checked on us often. The manager even stopped by and asked about out meal and thanked us for coming. Give them a try!
