I went to lunch at Popo’s with a friend today and very disappointed in the food quality to say the least. Service was good so no reflection on the waitstaff. If you are looking for a country/southern style dining experience this is not it. Don’t claim to be a fresh scratch kitchen when it’s not that. If you have ever worked in the food industry you know what is fresh and what is not. Serving lunch size portions for dinner prices wasn’t a great start. Only a handful of people in the restaurant to begin with so it wasn’t a rush order situation. The chicken fried steak was paper thin with flavorless, colorless breading, mashed potatoes were instant at best, the gravy was leftover from breakfast with sausage in it not to mention the consistency of pudding and cold. I salted and peppered it to try to make it more palatable but it just wasn’t. This is the second time within a year we both tried this restaurant and only tried it this time because someone said it just must have been a one time thing that it was bad the first time. The manager did ask if I wanted something else but I declined and she removed it from our bill.

Fantastic!!!! We came on a Monday evening for our anniversary dinner, and the food was great! John did a great job at serving and entertaining us! Lots of rich stories about the restaurant! I enjoyed looking at the display plates, as if one travels the world with them! God’s blessings upon y’all!

The best fried chicken I have had in a restaurant! My date had a steak with mushrooms and he was impressed. Excellent service and great atmosphere. Deb was very welcoming and attentive. I can’t wait to come back and try other things on the menu.

We enjoyed the ambiance of the whole place… staff was excellent .. and the food was delicious.. it is a definite break away from your “norm”. Chicken Fried Steak and Patty Melt was on point!… We will be coming back!!

This was the best chicken fried chicken that I have ever eaten. Melt in your mouth. No instant mashed potatoes, it was the real deal. Gravy was excellent. I recommend the bread pudding with whiskey sauce for dessert. We will be going back!!

I try to make it to PoPo’s at least once a month. I like their meatloaf and onion rings. Most places I frequent don’t have meatloaf on their menu or great onion rings. Those two items are the draw for me. My grandson tags along for the cheeseburger and the fresh cut fries. We like it.
