Had the spicy chicken sandwich and fried okra. Both were very good. The only thing is my bun was burnt but was still good. Seems like a really cool place with large menu. I’m glad I stopped by.

Thus place has been around forever. There’s only a handful of eateries in Smithville. All of them are smaller, located in historic buildings and such. This place on the corner had the aesthetics of a big chain restaurant. The menu is absolutely giant. Too big if you ask me. Every time I’ve been though, the food is super fresh, tasty and gets to you fast. Even when the place was absolutely packed on Saturday afternoon. I’m glad there’s a place with a fairly neutral menu that serves literally something for everyone. ( vegans included)

If they have the food you order, it is pretty good. The last time I was there, I ordered food and paid before sitting for an hour. Finally I went up and ask and was told that they were out of the ingredients to make my family’s meals. Then I had to deal with the attitude of the cashier who told me there is no manager and no process to identify issues. Stars are higher than the experience deserves because of a positive history.

My family came in to town to check out the Smithville Airport Fly In. I wanted to take them out to lunch somewhere that I knew we could get great food and service. My usual spot was closed so we went to Pockets. It was perfect. They were absolutely slammed with the special event going on that day. There was hardly a place to sit, but somehow magically we got our food quickly. It was hot, fresh, and very good.

Not too bad. The waitress was very friendly and the quesadilla with bbq sauce was delicious. I ordered fry chicken tenders and it was kinda dry. Lunch special was just 8 bucks which was great. My wife ordered a chicken salad and she loved it too. So I guess we recommend this place.

My SO had decided to start refinishing antique furniture and we have been driving to a few small towns these last few weeks. Came into Smithville to pick up a table and the nice lady who sold it to us recommended we try this place. And I’m sooooooooooooooo glad we did. We were both hungry and thirsty and Pockets really hit the spot (they got beer!!). SO had the Alpine and I had the Texas Jack. Both were scrumptious. Meat was perfectly cooked and the fact that we get to dress it ourselves from three toppings bar made it just right. Will definitely recommend and will be back for seconds.
