Finally, I found the best sit-down Mexican restaurant in the Frederick area!

We were craving Mexican food and decided to give Plaza Mexico a try. We were seated promptly and the serve brought us chips and salsa right away. He took our drinks order and came back with waters for everyone. He took our order and our food came out quickly. We were happily surprised because Sundays are usually busy for restaurants. Our fajitas were delicious and the portions were very generous. The order only came with two tortillas and we asked for more and we’re charged for them (not usual but okay). We had leftovers but made room for some churrros. Everything was tasty and the Guava margarita was excellent. We will be returning soon!

Overall I give it a 3/5. Despite their bad reviews, we still wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Atmosphere was good , but their bathrooms were really HOT. Although our drinks took some time, our server was professional and attentive. The food is meh, I ordered the Mariscos con arroz and it ended up being more like a salty seafood soup over white rice. The sauce was extremely overpowering and I could not taste anything else. The rice was mushy because of all the sauce, and since I am not the type of person who sends food back, I ended up cleaning the shrimp and scallops so I could eat them.

Unfortunately, we had a bad experience at this restaurant. The waiter did not speak English so there was a lot of miscommunication. My friend requested fajitas with slices of beef and explained that very thoroughly. She ended up with a dish that was 90% veggies with little bits of meat. I ordered a chicken taco salad and it was literally so small. It look like an appetizer, and it was very runny. The whole experience was disappointing.

This place was exactly the Mexican food I was looking for on a Friday night. We were seated immediately at the bar. The margaritas were HUGE and great. All the food was amazing and such great prices. They have an outdoor patio as well.

We recently had a celebration here. The food is delicious. I had fajitas carnitas. The meat, onions, and bells peppers were cooked perfectly. Our waitress, Arila took great care of us. The outdoor seating was perfect next to the creek. We look forward to coming here again.

Stay away! Food at best is average. Service is the worst. It’s definitely a place you want to stay away from. Not only was the service slow at the end of the meal, they also messed up the bill and refused to make it right. The manager then wants to yell at me. This was clearly their mistake. If I can give less than one star, I definitely would for this establishment.

Most aspects of our meal were mediocre. Never bad…never great. A few things rose and fell out of mediocrity. The service was good enough, even though the food was slow. My daughter’s carnitas quesedilla was quite good, by her report. My chili relleno was quite disappointing, with poor texture and flavored with the burn of far too much salt. We won’t bother coming back by design, but if it was the only place open, I would cope.

Truly awful service. Put in a simple online order of rice and beans to go—first they said it would be 40 min wait, then when we got there, they made us wait another 20 min for what should’ve been a couple minutes’ fulfillment, MAX. Only got our food after threatening to get a refund, at which point one of the four front desk servers who were just sitting there went back and fetched our food from the back. Mind-boggingly incompetent.
