This restaurant is one of the better places to eat on the peninsula. We have eaten there a few times now to really get a good idea of the restaurant. Love the vibe they’ve got going on. You even pay when you order up front, so that you aren’t thinking or waiting on the check.

After having a few of the mexican resturaunts between Soldotna and Kenai my first experience at Playa Azul wasn’t the best. It’s a shame because I’ve always heard good things about Playa Azul from co-workers and the radio.

Had dinner at Playa Azul last evening. It was the worst meal I had from them. I ordered the San Bruno quesadilla and it was terrible. The quesadilla was poorly put together, all the meat was at the fold, the mushrooms and onions were on the outer edge and had no flavor. The tortilla looked old and was cracked along the edges and was not grilled. The juices from the vegetables was soaked thru the tortilla and there was no cheese in the quesadilla. The rice and beans also lacked any flavor. Then they put the sour cream and guacamole on top of the hot rice and bean so it all melted into the rice and beans. The meal was stuffed onto a small plate with no room and the quesadilla was not cut. The cooks might want to learn from Acapulco Restaurant in Soldotna on presentation and prep of a quesadilla. I only ate 1/4 of the quesadilla. I will not be eating there again. One and done!!
