PLate is not a typical business venture. PLate is a fun and focused adventure built on deep friendships, a sense of family, and our proud community.
We started with a 1900’s farmhouse on South Main and very diverse backgrounds and skills. The common denominator became our passion for doing things the right way, whether designing a unique building, preparing a distinctive dish, or stirring a signature cocktail.
OUR MISSION at PLate has been clear from the start: To create a branded, upscale American eatery in downtown Prior Lake known for consistently producing distinctive high-quality food and beverages for its community of customers. There is a neighborhood focus, but an inviting atmosphere for all.

I can’t say enough good things about this place, it was delicious start to finish.

PLate has definitely become one of my favorite places for a nicer dinner outing. Food is always fantastic (namely, the PLate (steak) bites and the gnocchi). Yummy cocktails and really great service. If you’re interested, make sure to check out their Wednesday date night special!!!!

Chris Rooney Home Experts wholeheartedly recommends PLate on Main for a great night out for dinner or happy hour with friends and family. We are happy to have this ‘fine dining’ establishment in the community. From the ownership group, to delicious food and drinks to the friendly service and cozy atmosphere, you’ll have an enjoyable experience.

Came here with friends a couple weeks ago & had a wonderful first experience. I had the pineapple martini & loved it. The steak bites appetizer was perfectly done. I thoroughly enjoyed the prime rib sandwich & side salad, and my friends had the burrata salad, chicken parmesan, & chicken sandwich with fries (not shown, sorry!). We all decided to do dessert without realizing how large the portions were, but happy we did because the desserts are made from scratch & were fabulous! The chocolate cake was fantastic but the scoop of strawberry chocolate ice cream that came with it was the absolute winner! The key lime pie & tiramisu were good too. Great location near enough to the lake, very good service – will definitely be back again soon!

Awful. We were excited for Friday night dinner reservations for the self-described upscale modern restaurant; unfortunately, we thought wrong. The inside dining area was annoyingly loud, making it nearly impossible to relax and catch up with friends, so we chose the other option, outside on the small crowded patio. The ambiance was awkward. Our server was also the bartender, which may explain why service was less than acceptable. They market themselves as upscale, offering filet mignon and lobster, yet the vibe was more like a crammed, extremely loud sports bar, serving Applebees quality food with downtown Mpls steakhouse pricing. The best item was a clam chowder appetizer. The included entree side was described as creamy mashed potatoes, but came out clumpy, dry and tasteless. The filet mignon, worse, initially ordered rare as I planned to take most of it home and reheat later. Server declined and explained the best they could do would be medium-rare. Photo shows the ‘medium rare’ filet mignon ordered and the well-done thin piece of meat received. All four of us ordered a medium rare filet, yet all four received dry, overdone, flavorless meat. Overall, an expensive disappointment.

Had a really nice time. Music was a little loud so we had to be attentive to hear the conversation, but food and service were good. SO happy they could accommodate our group on a drizzly Friday night.

Came here for the first time for Restaurant Week today. Was one of the best deal options since they had filet mignon as an entrée selection, which by itself is like $40 alone. Plus you get to choose an appetizer and dessert.

Wife and I got gift cards there for Christmas, and overall it was an okay experience. Super friendly staff and a good selection of food and liquor but the taste to price ratio was way off in our opinion. Ordered the 50-day aged ribeye medium-rare, and it was less tender than the steak bites and less flavorful. Didnt wow us. Just “meh,” Scallops were delicious, calamari was too. They don’t skip on the liquor on drinks so that was a plus! Overall though, the pricing seems almost inflated as our economy for similar things I could’ve gotten at Edina grill/Redstone/Brick n Bourbon for half the price.

Good food. Bizarre business plan. You can only sit at the bar if you have a reservation. I have gone 2 times in the last week at 4:00. (They open at 4). I sit at the bar and am told I can only sit there until 5 because someone has reserved the seat. Mind you , there are 20ish bar seats and I am the only one there.
