All 5 star restaurant, service, food and on top of all the restaurant looks like a museum. And really clean.

Inside the wooden frame of the Plains Trading Post Restaurant lies another world, another time, captured and held by something which cannot quite be put into words. Alive in the air, the food, the drinks, and the eyes of the staff, this energy flows freely. Be aware, vigilant in your intentions, that you might partake and transfer this energy openly.

Had quite a good meal. Good size portions, ice cream parlor on site. Our waitress was friendly and service was fast!

I Love the decor and the history at this establishment! I find something new everytime I go and the food in the most part is extremely good and you have a little bit of everything from comfort foods to a “good night out” dinner. I do feel the service could be better! The wait staff always seems to carry a chip on their shoulder about something that should have been left at the front door.

We ordered the rocky mountain oysters as an appetizer. I could tell right away they never change there fryer oil. Salad bar was OK. I ordered the chili cheese burger. Green chili was good. Burger was dry and overcooked. The fries tasted like dirty fryer oil and were soggy. I regret ever stopping here.

I stopped by Plains Trading Post Restaurant twice over a month time period. I tend to travel through Douglas on road trips through Wyoming.

Absolutely loved this place. Food, service and the history are all great. Our server is a member of the family that has owned it since it opened and you could tell she loved sharing about the history as much as we loved hearing it.

Solid homestyle cooking. Great selection including breakfast all day. Loved the decor with something new in every dining room. Service was spot on even on July 4th.

The food is excellent, waitress are hit and miss the smoking area in front is awful. Why make non smokers walk through and pay in the smoking area? It would be one thing if this was the 1980s or even 1990s but in 2023 it’s disgusting. Sorry but it stinks.
