We just returned from Italy on Wednesday and we’re wanting to find the best Italian food in the area while the taste was fresh in our mouths. Well we found it at Mercato. It was as good as the best food we had in Italy. The food was excellent. We had the pasta special (Baked cannoli with mushrooms and cream sauce), Rossa Pizza, grilled focaccia and espresso chocolate chip gelato. Everything was perfect. We will definitely make Mercato a routine spot for us. Totally recommend. Just had the cinnamon ricotta gelato, it was awesome

This is, hands down, the best restaurant in Chapel Hill. Their service is second to none. They prioritize the experience just as much as the food and the food is delicious. Do yourself a favor and try the puttanesca pizza. Whether its for a casual date night, or long term anniversary, Mercato is the spot to fill up on good food and good times.

The food was great, but my experience with my family was upsetting. I can tell you they certainly have a preferred crowd espicially the lady up front. I walked in with my family of 7, my wife and I and our 5 kids to immediate looks from the staff, we had a reservation and were expecting my parents and nephew whom were to arrive 30minutes after us.

Pizzeria Mercato is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Carrboro. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, feels like I’m visiting friends and family every time I come. I would recommend grabbing something from the apps, salad, and pasta sections, and also grab two pizzas. The menu is always evolving based on the season and the dishes never, ever disappoint. Some mainstays on the menu that we basically get every time are the field greens salad and the funghi pizza. Mercato is that perfect place where the food is upscale but you don’t have to dress to the nines or take out a second mortgage to enjoy it.
