Kalamazoo Man
They use to be great, but when I can take 3 people to Uncle Ernie’s in Kalamazoo and get more food choices and pay less than 2 of us spent here for the same dishes, that is crazy.

Simple diner fare but tasty; actually one of my favorite places I’ve gotten chicken fried steak in a while (see picture). Also came with American fries which I love and don’t seem to see as often anywhere anymore. Good sized portions for good prices; the Sunday we went it was breakfast only all day but there was a lot to choose from. The wife had a sausage and cheese scramble that she couldn’t even finish, she was so full.

Love that the menu has a variety of great food. Had difficulty choosing, because there were so many tasty options. They had healthy items available too, which is not always common for a diner tucked back in a rural-ish area. Really enjoyed it. Can’t wait to go back!

Flippant waitress, gross food. If you go for breakfast, only order à la carte, and check the dates on everything. We went in Oct 2022, the best buy date on their jelly was Aug 2021.

Not bad for a small local diner (these are our favorite places to eat). Food was good, nice portions, restaurant and restroom were clean. Service was a bit slow (they could really use two servers but I’m guessing help is hard to find) but both the server and chef did an outstanding job considering the place was packed. I had the steak and eggs. Steak was cooked correctly, I always ask for very rare and it was. The steak was tender and seasoned nicely. My wife had the Lumberjack Breakfast. Wow, lots of food, eggs, bacon sausage, fried potatoes and she really liked the huge pancake. An out of the way drive for us but we’ll go back for more. The table behind us had a giant gravy smothered burrito that I need to try.

Very friendly, good service, good food with fair portions. Prices are average to slightly above average, the coffee could be quite a bit stronger to suit me…I prefer either a French or Italian roast. I recommend giving them a try.
