This is probably the second time I tried Cambodian food. I actually like this place more than the one I had last time. I have never been to Cambodia, but what they offered here feels quite like the homemade traditional foods. Over all I find the experience quite refreshing. I ordered the basil mussels, the crepe, coconut juice steam fish and the lemongrass ribs. My favorite dish is the mussels. It’s very flavorful. The fish is interesting too. I guess I was expecting a whole steam fish, but turns out its filets in a bowl. I love the coconut juice in the fish because it adds flavor and complexity but not overpowering. The collard greens at the bottom absorbs all the flavor and I like it. By the way, the waitress is quite friendly and she showed us how to eat the crepe. I think I will go back again.

Hidden gem in Alameda! Or maybe it’s not a hidden gem, and everyone knows this place. Regardless, all the dishes that we ordered were really good.

We welcomed warmly. The food was delicious. The restaurant is very clean especially the bathroom. I don’t know about you but when a restaurant has a clean bathroom, they get my business. When we left they were so kind and thanked us for coming. Give them a try. We will go back for sure.

Service was good. Food was excellent. Preparation and portions were more than enough for us. Wife had a tofu curry and vegetables. I had a shrimp and calamari medley with mushrooms. The flavors of the two plates were great. This is a great inexpensive place to get quality food.

My husband chose this restaurant to celebrate his birthday because of the excellent reviews. I’ll give the food 4 stars but 2 stars for service. Our server who took our order was friendly but we never saw him again after he left with our order. Nobody checked on us to check if we needed anything else or if the food was good. You know, the usual courtesy one is given once the food is on the table. Beef skewers had pretty good flavor. We ordered 3 (12 skewers total) and devoured them. We also enjoyed the Spicy soup with assorted seafood. Fried banana dessert was so yummy. We would most likely go back to give the place another try. They didn’t clear our table of the dirty dishes after we were done and already have placed our dessert order. Literally, for a good 20 minutes. We were just sitting around talking to each other staring at the dishes. The staff was too busy clearing the other tables to make room for new customers arriving that they forgot their existing customers also need attention.

Simply a cut above, this family run business, in what to me, is an obscure location, (Webster St. in Alameda, I need to check out Alameda more often),

I spotted Phnom Penh Restaurant while driving down Webster St. during one of my weekly visits to Alameda so I decided to give it a try. At around 9 pm which is close to their closing time there were about 2 tables full. After going through the menu, I settled on Sachkor Cha Ktis ($8.99) which as per their menu is tender beef simmered in curry flavor peanut butter sauce served w/ cooked spinach and steamed rice ($2) to-go. I could pay using my card so no issues there. During the short 10-minute wait for the food I was served some hot tea.
