Visiting Philadelphia, we looked for a great Philly Steak and Hoagie restaurant. Phil & Jim’s didn’t disappoint; indeed, it was fabulous. Phil& Jim’s was the best sandwich shop our family has eaten in for at least 5 years. We got two 12″‘steaks, which were superb. And the Italian hoagie with prosciutto was amazing. We were guided on our choices by Gia (owner), who was gracious, pleasant, and spot-on with her suggestions. Make sure to check out the walls to see all the celebs who have eaten there.

Why a little out of the way to stop by Phil and Jim’s on our way home from Philly. Really not far out once you get off the highway. Service was great. Everyone was very friendly and there was a real family vibe from the staff. Aye in the dining room and got to watch some of the game and admire the sports memorabilia. Portions were more than generous and everything was fresh. Definitely going to be a regular stop when we go o Philly.

This place has went down hill the last two experiences I’ve had there have been horrible. I literally drive 2 hours to get these cheese steak but I will never again. They don’t value their customers because if they did I wouldn’t be writing this review. They messed up my cheesesteaks last time by drowning it in ketchup. This time they forgot my Mayo and drenched my husbands steak in ketchup again when specifically asked for light ketchup. They were literally in there training new employees so I was being patient. When asked to make new steaks they refused saying they can put mayonnaise on the side and not make a new steak I literally took two bites out of. They refused to refund me so I left the steaks fries and drinks. I wouldn’t ever eat at an establishment that doesn’t compromise or try to resolve and issue with a customer. So they can have that $38. They lost a customer!

I just happened upon this place and really glad that I did. The guy at the counter helped we out with my order, the cheesesteak was fantastic, and the owner stopped by to check on me and shared some of the history of the place. Plus the have RC Cola. Highly recommended.

Cheese steaks were good but dry. I expect cheese steaks to have a good about of grease they could have used more cheese. The cheese fries were smothered with cheese. The menu didn’t list the cheese steak with the cheese whiz on but I asked for it and they had it. The onion rings were good and tasted as if they made them. Everything came fast and was hot everyone was very nice.

I have been going to Phil and Jim’s for over 30 years. They went through a slump a few years ago but I believe they changed ownership and are better than before! I do not live nearby but I will go out of my way to get a cheesesteak or Italian special hoagie. Their cheese fries are also amazing because they use real Cheese Whiz. Most places say Whiz but use that fake cheese that tastes like dirt to me. Everything is packed with meat but on the hoagies, it’s sliced thin and that is what makes it so good. Plus, it’s ALL quality meats and fresh. They hand tear the lettuce which makes a big difference as well. Rolls are soft and chewy like a hoagie or steak roll should be. In fact, the sandwiches are so good, I used to order a hoagie and a cheesesteak because I couldn’t decide! I would eat half and half!! Lol! I don’t often give reviews but they deserve it. Their burgers used to be frozen but were huge and tasty. They have a variety of chips, Tastycakes and sodas. A small dining area is available. Highly recommend this location.
