Unlike her flagship restaurant Atelier Crenn, Petit Crenn is focused on homestyle rustic cooking which mirrors the food chef Crenn grew up eating. Not fancy but the food here is absolutely delicious.

We have a fabulous evening. The food was fresh, unique, tasty and beautifully presented. We chose not to have the wine pairing but matched the food with a Cremant and then a lovely Chablis. This worked incredibly well. All in a very special dinner

We love the more casual ambience of this restaurant. There were some great dishes (our favorite was the duck egg) and I especially appreciate the abundance of vegetables. If you are a meat eater, go somewhere else 🙂 minus one star because some of the veggies (broccolini, radish with leaves) were super tough and fibrous that they were un-chewable. I get the farm-to-table thing, but perhaps a simple squeeze of the veggies will reveal whether they should indeed be served to humans

I went there for the tasting menu with wine pairing for dinner a few days ago.

All around five star experience. We walked in on a weeknight at around 5:30 and the place was kind of empty, so we luckily snatched two seats at the bar. It was interesting watching them make our food and let me tell you the head chef was intense, in a good way for me, not so much for the line cooks. EVERYTHING was delicious. The final dish on the tasting menu with the carrot sorbet was an interesting flavor that i have never had. it started out questionable but once all the flavors came together, it was like a party in my mouth. I so loved our experience and can’t wait to go back again. This is probably the best value you can get for the price from a michelin 3 star restauranteur.

Came here after watching the Chef’s Table episode on Dominique Crenn. Quaint, understated venue seating no more than 30 people and a full team of wait and kitchen staff. Our main waitress was pleasantly unpretentious and all were attentive and knowledgeable. We got a seat up at the bar which was cool because we could watch the chefs preparing the food with a lot of focus, professionalism and care. This is one of the few times I’ve enjoyed French food without feeling sick because the food is too rich. There was a great balance of flavours and richness was not overdone at all. My favourite dishes were the kampachi (yellowtail) crudo and the dessert which was an almond tart with lemon curd, Clementine and cardamom ice cream. So delicious! Would recommend for anyone looking for an unpretentious fine dining experience without paying exorbitant amounts (depending on your definition of exorbitant… We paid US$250 including a 20% tip for 2 people)

Disclaimer: I am an amateur fine dining fan at best, and this was my first true fine dining experience in SF. But as a rookie to the gastronomy scene, this movie was absolutely exceptional. The atmosphere is so serene, the service is fantastic (featuring detailed verbal descriptions before every new course), and the food is outstanding. I had the 7-course dinner, and although each portion was quite small, after all seven courses I was quite full. The wine menu is also remarkable. You really feel like you’re dining in Brittany!

Petit Crenn was really solid! The service was pretty decent. The standard tasting menu comes with 5 options. All of the dishes were awesome, full of flavor and great presentation.

Came here for a special birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. Although a couple of dishes were not quite up to par (namely the good-but-not-great leeks and the thermally confused squash soup with mustard ice cream), they clearly take very creative risks in an effort to deliver the very best version that each combination of ingredients can offer. Two dishes that really stood out were the delectable squid ink boudin and the outright incredible and incomparable trout. Just ridiculously good. Service was outstanding, which you should expect from a Crenn restaurant. Highly recommend!
