I was really looking forward to eating here after hearing so many good reviews. So I scheduled to have some friends meet me. They food was satisfying & I would eat here again but not as spectacular as the reviews made it seem. Glad I experienced it.

Just a true southern homestyle cooking here. Truly great food with a great price too. Make you feel like your mom’s house again and enjoy lunch.

Honestly, this review is a little difficult because I think that it is a bit biased and maybe a bit unfair. You see, I have been hearing about this restaurant since it opened. Of course, everyone was raving about the food; but I never got around to visiting. So, of course I thought I would love it too. I wanted to see what all the chatter was about, so I drove the distance to see for myself. It’s a cafeteria style setting. I ordered the fried chicken green beans and mashed potatoes tomato slice and cornbread muffin. I am not saying the food was not good…I’m a “foodie” so for me it was ok. I really loved the green beans though. Anyway, I live over 20 miles away so needless to say I probably won’t drive that far again just to eat there but if I am in the neighborhood, I would go back and try something different. The area is nice. They have outdoor seating, so that was a plus for me. It was really nice and shaded.

This is a very good meat and three, cafeteria-style restaurant. Their vegetables are great, and the servings are large. Today the meat options were pork chops and fried chicken. The fried chicken is great, very home-style. I enjoyed the cornbread and sweet tea. The peach cobbler was wonderful with a lot of crust. The building was very clean. Their health code rating was 100%.

The food was very good. Beef tips were flavorful, baked chicken had a wonderful gravy & the fried chicken…made like my mom & grandma made…tasted like my childhood. That said, the elderly lady serving the meat option was rude & seemed like she’d rather be anywhere but there. She was not very nice to me & traumatized my extremely respectful (yes sir, yes ma’am) son. The woman at the register greeted us with a smile & was very sweet. Maybe she should be the first encounter you have here instead of the other.

The workers were kinda rude, it was a little hot in the restaurant, but that is were the criticism ends. The food was absolutely phenomenal! Some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had in my entire life! Can’t wait to go back again.

The fried chicken was just out of the deep fryer and was very good. Sides were good except the gravy. I don’t know if they had an AC problem but it was hot in the restaurant. Very friendly people.

If there was a way to give less than one star I would not give it one star. First when we arrived there was a fight happening in the restaurant. Secondly there were two meat options and it took fish 15 minutes to drop. The green beans and other sides had been sitting out for hours and taste spoiled. The yams were over cooked and almost like a pudding flavor. It was the most horrible experience for it to be “SOUL FOOD”. As I evaluated where I was, I then realized they don’t have any competition. I would not recommend eating at this place at all. The friend chicken wasn’t even battered. They simply just fried the skin.

We went in for a late lunch and had no complaints about the quality of our food. Fried chicken and cornbread were better than advertised, and the side dishes were seasoned well. The apple cobbler and lemon cake were too sweet for our taste, but after all it’s a soul food restaurant, not a health food restaurant.

The food was very bland. For fried chicken, they only had thighs. The baked beans were too sweet. The collard greens tasted watered down. The corn bread was hard and the driest I ever hard. The fried chicken was okay when compared to the other food we got. The hush puppies were good. The sweet potatoes were gooey and bland. You order through a food line like you would at a Subway or chipotle. The employees (including cashier) seemed annoyed when you asked questions.
