First time at this restaurant. Tried the brunch on Saturday 2-11-23. It was just mediocre. The table service was good & the server was friendly. Atmosphere was ok. Decorated but simple. I had the shrimp & grits with hash brown casserole as a side. The food was average at best. The mimosas were good. Probably a better restaurant to try for a late lunch or dinner.

We were looking for a place to get oysters as we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed with Palmetto’s. The service was excellent and personal, and the food was fantastic. Great selection of raw and grilled oysters. The fried pickles were a great compliment. The buttermilk pie was surprisingly good. We had an opportunity to meet the owner who was so genuine and nice. We will be back to visit again.

Clemson is a beautiful town. Many restaurants in Clemson’s downtown area have a unique atmosphere and are not commercialized. Palmetto Smokehouse is a local restaurant with a friendly staff, fantastic menu items, and great spirits. Some of the restaurants in the downtown area are geared toward college kids. As a parent, I could go in and not feel out of place. Parent friendly. I enjoyed the low country bowl.

I ordered their special low country boil with shrimp. It was served slightly warm. The shrimp were OK but the potatoes were seriously undercooked and so hard it was difficult to pierce them with a fork. I couldn’t believe the “cook” would let this out of the kitchen. The waiter was friendly and apologetic but made no attempt to fix my meal. Very slow service because they were seriously understaffed with just 1 waiter and 1 cook working at dinner time. Avoid!

The fries looked like what was left in the bottom of the basket. The oyster medley smelled old. Oysters should smell like fresh ocean water, not old socks. The beer was fantastic!

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! Such a good variety but focused menu. I had the low country boil and it was loaded with sausage, 15 large shrimp, new potatoes, onions and corn on the cob. I also sampled the fried oysters and shrimp on my friends dish. The Brunswick stew was phenomenal with just a hint of sweetness that is expected in a good stew! Definitely a MUST go when near Clemson.

It is my first time in Clemson and I am a chef from Cincinnati, Ohio. I was recommended this place by a family member and we were excited to try it. I drove 45 minutes and arrived at 8:19 p.m. There were two staff members and a line of guests at the door but only two guests seated. We were ignored as well as the other guests and treated rudely without even speaking. I walked out immediately and I am very disappointed by this experience. I would recommend closing sooner if you are not interested in serving customers until your posted time. As a member of the food industry I would never allow my staff to treat guests this way under ANY circumstance. Save your time and go to Evolve. They were busy but still welcomed people at the door.

The portions are small, dry, and overpriced. I know that is the objective of take out is to buy cheap and mark up 150% but the food should be edible! I order the nachos fries basket. It came clumped together and was so dry. The cheese was caked up, the pork was 100% flavorless. The shrimp in the poboy was ok, but they skimped on the slaw! Also, it didn’t seem to have the aioli sauce for the po boy, it was just ranch. Finally, u get about 6 fried oysters for $15, it is ludacris and you don’t even get hot sauce for your oysters. Skimp this place if you not drunk. If u are drunk tho, this is the place to be!

Got there with no one at the bar area, and were seated pretty quickly. But then after ordering, my girlfriend and I and her daughter, waited for more than a hour to just receive our appetizers! All the while an ENTIRE 5-person family was seated, served, and almost done eating! And we didn’t even get all of our ordered appetizers. We decided to cancel our order and leave, and that’s when the waitress blew up on my girlfriend. She had the AUDACITY to ask her if we’d ever been to a restaurant before or had oysters before!! Hell, I’m FROM Louisiana!! She then charged us for our ENTIRE meal when we didn’t even get but 2 of our appetizers!
