OZAKAYA
Our restaurant name is inspired by two Japanese words:
OSAKA & IZAKAYA
Chef Takahiro Sano (born and raised in Osaka), driven by strong curiosity and great passion, pursued his dream as head chef when moving to New York City. He started his journey as a front of house staff and climbed the ranks of server, bartender, and captain.
Later on, Sano received an opportunity to work at Yoppari, a fine-dining Japanese restaurant located on Clinton St., where he met his mentor, Chef Junya. Sano, under meticulous guidance, trained on the intricate Japanese cooking techniques bestowed upon him.
Born from the chef’s passion and love of cooking, OZAKAYA aims to be a fresh dining experience providing the Finest flavor you can get.

Service at this place is amazing. I ordered take out once before, and was not impressed by the roll, but I’d come back for the wonderful service.

This has recently become my second favorite Japanese American restaurant in Brooklyn (the other one is in Bedstuy Brooklyn). Food is here fresh and yummy! The sushi chefs know how to make delicious sushi dishes. My favorite appetizer pictured here is the Tataki, a recipe they revised and updated recently; tastes as delicate and satisfying as the former. I appreciate their attention to details about their ingredients, dishes, presentation and quality in of service overall. Keep up the good work!

Good and fresh sashimi and Japanese donburi are now available at @ozakaya_nyc in Brooklyn! They are a bit pricey but definitely better than many other places I’ve had in Brooklyn, so I’m glad that they opened! I enjoyed the donburi but the appetizers were not too memorable so may skip those and try other stuff in the future.

The sushi here is absolutely delicious and very fresh! Drinks are also amazing. I recommend the Ozakaya roll & spicy momo drink (not actually spicy). Service is great & reservations are a must for weekends!

Delicious! And reasonably priced. We shared the vegetable tempura curry, the mentai pasta, and the ikura uni bowl. The vegetable tempura curry was big, the mentaiko pasta was mid-sized and very rich, and the ikura uni bowl was small but decadent. The yuzu lemonade was delicious! Would definitely go back.

I’m semi-new to sushi but I’m quickly learning that not all sushi places are not created equal. Lucky for me Ozakaya was FANTASTIC! We shared 2 rolls, pork gyoza, and 2 drinks. Will definitely return with friends!

Wandered in here after visiting the Brooklyn Botanic garden and were blown away by the wide selection and the quality of everything we ordered. The sushi specials and curry were particularly stunning!
