Had an incredible experience dining here last Saturday. It is definitely a very happening place with a lot of great energy (loud and crowded). I absolutely loved the indoor/outdoor vibe with the huge sliding doors open to their patio (very California feel). The patio was the perfect place. We shared many dishes, my favorite having to be the cauliflower. Before anyone turns their nose up, this cauliflower was so perfectly grilled and executed with thoughtful flavors that paired beautifully. I loved my flounder entree! Beautiful presentation and textures. I cleaned my plate. The service was incredible and wow we were floored by the extensive wine menu. We had the pleasure of chatting with their sommelier Heidi, who is kind, engaging and very knowledgeable. We are Old World wine enthusiasts so it was great conversation. It’s a beautiful restaurant, the attention to detail noticeable. Shout out to the bathrooms! Part lounge, part library with huge floor mirrors. It was a vibe. Looking forward to coming back!

The four of us walked in without a reservation at 5:45 pm on a Saturday night and the hostess kindly pulled two tables together in the bar for us. Our waitress was fun and helpful, we ordered oysters on the half shelf and the house rolls as appetizers and desserts after dinner. We knew the restaurant was crowded and expected some noise but wow! It’s hard to talk normally because of the high noise level. Our appetizers came quickly but our meals took quite some time to reach us, probably because the house was full. My daughter ordered her filet ‘rare’ and it definitely came medium to medium rare. We didn’t send it back because we didn’t want to wait given how long it took to be served. We’ve eaten here before and the same thing happened, our meat was not cooked to order. The roasted Brussel sprouts are very good but the sauce on my flounder was overpowering. Couldn’t taste the fish and there’s not much taste to flounder to begin with. Two suggestions for the owner: the restaurant charges $5 for four small rolls and a tablespoon of butter. Given what our bill came to ($360), with drinks from the bar, charging us for rolls seems greedy. Second – we understand we were seated in the bar and that’s where people go to wait for a table, but herding groups of 4-6 people around those seated trying to eat is not enjoyable for anyone. Look at utilizing the area around the hostess stand as well, lots of wasted space there.

Great meal tonight! We had what I considered the best seat in the house. A little corner table right in front of the glass wall that looked into the kitchen. We started out with cocktails that were fantastic, and the charred octopus as an appetizer. The octopus was delicious with bright flavors of citrus, spicy peppers and basil. A real hit! My wife had the tagliatelle that was packed with lobster. The black garlic Caesar salad was delicious also. I had the Cioppino which was wonderful and reminded me of San Francisco. The crispy Brussel sprouts were probably the most unremarkable item we had, but they were still tasty and well prepared. We took a piece of the chocolate cake home for a late night snack and it was simply ridiculous! This is a must have if you’re a chocoholic!

As former residents/out of towners, this was the best meal we’ve had in Wilmington since before Brasserie was sold. Our food was cooked perfectly, the service was amazing, and everything about our time there was wonderful. We had one of the specials (grilled peach with ricotta), and it was shockingly good. The chocolate cake was the best we’ve ever had— anywhere. Food wise, Origins rivals some of our favorite restaurants in NY. Our only complaint was the noise. It’s quite loud and makes conversation difficult. We’ll definitely visit again whenever we are in Wilmington.

Wine was great. Service was awesome. Long wait for food. One dish was not fully cooked/hot and had to be reordered. We were not charged for that item, and the wait staff is terrific. Scallops were okay but the overall dish was bland.

It is August and 90 degrees. First time visit and we get there and all of their windows and doors are open….nothing wrong with the air conditioning either – they just made that choice which was not a good one. It was at least 80 degrees in there and there were about 100 flies in there. I don’t go out for a nice dinner to be swatting flies and sweating while I’m eating. Furthermore, I had viewed the menu ahead of time and wanted the halibut. When ordered, the waitress said that the chef substituted grouper for halibut. That is not nearly the same and she should’ve said that when we sat down. Lastly, all managers were walking around aimlessly and no one asked us how our experience was. Horrible experience and we will not be back. Feel very sorry for Kate who was pregnant and working in the heat.
