In 1969, Jack and Pat Welch founded The Original PJs Pizza in New Martinsville. We continue their tradition, offering a wide selection of pizza, pasta, wings, salads, and hometown staples of the highest quality.
In December 2021, Erika and Rob Donaghy also took over Varsity Pizzeria In Moundsville, WV making it into the second Original PJ’s Pizza location.

Nasty pizza. I always get salads and things for lunch, which are always good. Never had the pizza. I will never eat it again. Disgusting. My kids don’t even like it. I’m not trying to be a Karen either. It’s just generically made and tastes nasty. Tastes like a Greg’s Market pizza. My kid just compared it to dog water. Very disappointed. Especially for $17

Riley was our waitress. She did an amazing job and was super nice. Our food was delicious and there were plenty of great options. The kids loved it. We tried stuffed shells, stromboli, chicken wings, smothered fries, pretzel bites and more. Great experience for our party of 8. We were all pleased with our last minute decision to stop.

I loved varsity for years. The tiger steak grinder was always my favorite. I was disappointed they jacked the price up like crazy but I still tried it. Not only was the bread soggy but the meat had a funky taste. I actually ended up with food poisoning. If you’re going to charge $14 for a sandwich it needs to be excellent. I won’t be eating there again. Some very dirty employees as well.

First time eating their pizza. It was delicious. We added an antipasto salad and it was fresh and crisp. Upon pickup, we added the chocolate peanut butter cake that was amazing! The piece was a small, but it was rich and yummy!

First let’s just clear up the fact that this owner is not near the businessman as the original owner. I ate at the New Martinsville location my whole life growing up and ordered from the Moundsville location and the pizza is just not what you expect from them. The mild banana peppers were spicy instead of sweet, and when I called to go over it with them the lady that answered the phone said she knew what I meant, but then when she put the manager on she said they weren’t hot at all. I then asked to speak to the owner since he was there and he told her he was busy making bread and didn’t have time to speak with me. They would not even check the peppers themselves to know what I was talking about and refused to make it right in any way! There are multiple other local pizza shops that treat their customers respectfully, I will never go to this establishment again!
