Sentimental Journey
Hendricks gin, st germain, grapefruit bitters, lime juice, prosecco. 1938 – doris day, at the age of 15, makes her professional singing debut in our then pavillon caprice nightclub. A cincinnati native, ms. Day performed here often. Today the pavillon caprice, located on the 4th floor, is a ballroom where numerous business and social events take place throughout the year.
English Rose
Befeater, dry vermouth, apricot brandy, lemon juice, grenadine. 1934 – winston churchill was so impressed by his suite bathroom with separate tub, shower and water closet that he halts construction on his london town home to have it duplicated. Today, the bathroom remains as it was and the churchill suite is available for nightly rental.
“To The Boys In The Dark Room”
Stolli vanilla, ginger syrup, frangelico. 1946 – during the 30’s and 40’s our hotel featured a dark room and staff photographers to capture all the fabulous people and events held at the netherland plaza. Hollywood icon ginger rogers, while promoting her film magnificent doll, playfully autographed a picture she addressed to the boys in the dark room” the original photo with inscription is on display in our lobby level history case. The former darkroom is now a convention services office
‘Whistle Stop”
Bulliet bourbon, sweet vermouth, orange bitters 1948 – president harry s. Truman criss crosses the nation by train, giving speeches from the rear platform of the observation car. These appearances drew large crowds and led to narrow victories in his re-election including here in ohio. President truman visits our netherland plaza frequently during his time in office
“Burning Love”
Frangelico, malibu rum, blue curacao, pineapple juice 1977 – elvis presley suddenly checks out of the hotel, complaining of inadequate air conditioning, and sets out across downtown streets in his blue drug enforcement agency jogging suit and sunglasses, trailed by his security. Later he performs a highly praised concert his next to last ever, for 17,500 fans at the riverfront coliseum (now us bank arena). He was a frequent guest when touring and once walked into the kitchen to compliment the chef on the burger he ordered.

Amazing architectural details, amazing bartenders and pretty good food. It’s probably one of the best hotel bar/restaurants I’ve been to.

Elegant and sophisticated. A welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. Dine in art deco splendor.

A phenomenal art deco bar located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati! Every turn is absolutely breathtaking! I didn’t know Cincinnati had such a place and I most definitely recommend checking it out. It hold lots of architecture, marble work, artwork, metal work, and all things art deco. Awesome employees throughout the hotel and restaurant. Would most definitely recommend!

Gorgeous decor, but I was blown away by our servers kindness. Wow just attentive and sweet. Thank you. The food was yummy and so were the mimosas.

A nice place of faded elegance and continuously diminishing glory. We came for coffee and desert, and the place was more than half empty. There were two servers and a barman, and the only one really working was the barman. If I were the manager, I’d fire the other two as they were about as helpful as rust on an old Buick. The cheesecake portion was thinner than my index finger and shorter, though served on a plate the size of Texas. The chocolate cake consisted of two cupcake shaped ROCKS, and were about as edible and tasty as 8-balls. The coffee was ok. I’ve had better service and dessert at an I-80 truck stop.

Have been here twice now for the tasting menu. The first time(about two years ago) it was great! It was ten courses and it seemed most of it came special from the chef (Only a one or two courses were from the regular menu). This time was good as well but did not blow our socks off like the first time. It was eight courses, but everything was from the menu so it didn’t seem as special. Also, I believe the menu said $120 for the tasting menu/ person but when the bill came, it was $130. It does not seem like much when we paid about a total of $500 for the two of us but it is worth noting. Also we were there for almost 5 hours from the time we were seated. I would like to have seen a faster pace.

A once in a lifetime experience that was worthy of 5 stars. Every course that we had was paired with a wine that Morgan helped choose for us.
