I specialize in the renovation of kitchens, but this is Grandmas country kitchen 2.0. Both a local market and an incredibly good southern inspired restaurant, be prepared to be warmed by the good spirit of true comfort food and energy of the old days… when food took time but every1 chatted away… It was my first time here, so I didn’t get a chance to really experiment on food (chicken sausage, eggs, and pancakes), but it was pleasant. Good prices and a local spot you should not miss.

O’Nells is a great local place. Situated in a small corner, when you walk in, it feels like you’re in your grandma’s kitchen. Nell cooks everything to order, the portions are huge, the prices are reasonable, and she takes care of you like you’re family. I’ve never experienced a place where the chef is talking to me from the kitchen while cooking – it’s a great environment and it’s quickly become a go-to restaurant for our family. (And, for anyone who’s from Los Angeles and looking for a Black-owned spot in Long Beach that has a similar feel to Serving Spoon, but without the long line/wait, LOOK NO FURTHER!)

Great friendly service, cook came to the table to ask if I enjoyed the meal. We’re from Mississippi, and were totally disappointed with the food. I ordered the fried chicken plate with mac n’ cheese and greens. I felt the chicken was undercooked, still red when taking a bite. No flavor, needed more seasoning. I’ll give them another try.

Walked in Owner / cook was talking to 2 customers. Waved to me, stayed talking to them for about for over 5 mins, then did something else then finally came and took my order. The food was good, the bill way adjusted to $1 more than on the specials flyer. I would be surprised she stays open past this year. She needs a prep cook, she needs to focus on getting the food out to the customer and be more consistant with the menu. Sometime you come znd you get toadt with your meal and you can order the same thing and not get everything that goes with it.
